Quote: No thanks! Got enough of my own and my neighbor has one that wakes me up too! I still gotta finish my coop. I had to cut grass yesterday and weedeat. Got most of it done. Darn neighbors goat is getting in my backyard by the garden. Gonna have to fence his side off better. I got a million weeds and he wants my garden and my trees!

MommaPoppyBee,

I bought some goats milk soap awhile back from King's Feed in Newalla. It feels great but is lacking on the scent.

I wanted to get a milk goat but I am also afraid it would be more trouble than it's worth. I have enough to do without having to worry about a goat getting out and eating my stuff or having to milk it.

Plus having to feed it during the winter would be costly. People sell the milk here for 8 dollars a gallon. Whew!

I have never tried goats milk for drinking but hear it is very good. I grew up on raw milk with the cream still in it, yummmmm! Wish I could get some from somewhere around here. There is nothing better than fresh cold milk!

Morning

Looks overcast today. If we have storms coming, I'm going to have to work extra hard to get the rest of the square bales in. If anybody going to N.E.O.C.S. needs square bales (mostly native grasses - - cows and goats love it), I have quite a few extras. PM me for price.

I've got some good news and some bad news to share. It's actually all good news if you look at it from the proper perspective. My chicken business plans are on hold due to earthquake and flood damage to the house. The school board at HIlldale met this week and I am officially hired to teach Senior English. I haven't taught British Literature in some time; four years ago, maybe... I'll have to brush up on a few things before August. The plan is to teach, teach, teach and pay off the repairs, then the mortgage, and somewhere in between there is a new commuter car in DH's future. HIs twelve-year-old commuter car is ready for retirement. We're thinking the mortgage can be eliminated in about seven years.

If anyone is looking for an excellent, excellent trailer, mine is for sale. PM for details. I can tow it to N.E.O.C.S. for pickup there. Measuring from the outside, the bed is 6 1/2 feet wide, twelve feet long, and the sides are 4 1/4 feet tall. The ramp is in great shape, and there is a lockable box up top near the front of the trailer. Because my chicken activities are on hold as of August, I want my most excellent trailer to keep working for somebody else. I can't bear to see it sit idle. I know I'm going to regret giving it up, but DH thinks I'll be fine with a tiny trailer that holds a few feed bags. I hope he's right. I'm spoiled after being able to put a mountain of stuff into the trailer and still have room. Off to feed the chickens. Have a great day!

That is one sweet trailer! I'm drooling over it. We can't afford one, but if we could, I'd snap it up in a heartbeat.

When i was younger mum had goats and i had to milk our nany. The milk is a sweeter flavor than cows milk. The good note is if your using in coffee or tea no extra sugar needed. makes things a bit more healthy.
