***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Quote:
Blanchard was unusual this evening, in that it wasn't very crowded and there were not the ton of birds it usually has. Prices were low, for the most part. The parking lot wasn't full, there were plenty of seats (they have added about 50 chairs) and if it hadn't been so hot and humid - even when in the direct blow of a fan - it would have been really nice. As it was, the mosquitoes were enormous, the humidity was thick and there weren't enough fans.

Jaxon got more guineas than Dean would have liked and was thrilled. Al, the enabler who makes me look like an amateur, made up a bid number and gave it to Jaxon. That child felt empowered! He wanted to bid on the guineas, even after we bought 12, and on the rabbits. We came home with newly hatched coternix quail, about 25 guineas, and two small rabbits.

On the way home, Jaxon asked if Montana or Austin or Stella (Rebeccah's dog) would be at Cement next week. He only was able to see Stella this evening.

Hopefully, Carla will feel better soon. She was ill this evening so Gerald dropped off hatching eggs and some birds, before heading home to take care of her. Since Gerald wasn't there to PO the hatching eggs, some of them went way too cheap. I got their blue copper maran eggs for about $3 if I recall correctly.

My throat is sore from getting too hot at the auction and from all the dust. I am heading to bed.

Teach, Jared caught what he calls a legless lizard the other day. Cool creature.
I am not sure of the exact name. It looked more like a lizard than a snake but had no legs. Would it be a glazz snake or is it called legless lizard?
He turned it loose.

It probably was a legless lizard sometimes called a glass snake the easiest way to tell is that the lizard can blink LOL Snakes don't have eyelids and the overall lenght of the lizard will be about 2/3rds tail which is why they were called a glass snake they can snap thier tail when you try to catch them and it can break into more than one piece, I grabbed one once that left 3 broken pieces of tail on the ground wiggling,

Morning all, hope everyone is enjoying the great weather, lets hope it sticks around.
We have decided to cut back just a little more on the big birds and make some young OE available as well. So if anyone is interested there will be a trio of adult Blue Laced Red Wyandotte available very nice birds, as well as several pairs of Golden Birchen OE bantam, and a started trio of standard Blue cochins. These birds will not be going through an auction so if you are interested please PM or Call. We may be adding to the list as we will be working outside the rest of the weekend.

Hey

I am looking for either a full grown(or close there off) Female Naragensett Turkey or a Male... Rosanne our Naragensett Turkey is extremely depressed... ever since James Bond(our male) went MIA she has been mopey and laying around alot.... and yesterday she started turkey calling and going over to the neighbors.... and just now we had to corral her back to the house after she went across the street turkey calling... ( Of course after that jason was like... WE HAVE GOT TO MOVE...lol)

I have never seen her so low... am I mistaken to think that quite possible she feels a loss with James Bond gone? She has her babies but has appeared to lose interest in them and now they her...

If anyone on here has a Naragensett Turkey that they are willing to sell or even just part with please let me know we can make arrangements for pick up...

Jason is gonna try and see if our Tom might be with some of the wild turkeys that are down on a neighbors property using Rosanne as bait in a cage(she is only gonna be down there for half the day no over night) .... maybe we locate him back that way... if not I really need to get her company... she has all of us sad with her moping and depression....

This is a Craigslist ad from a friend of mine. I will be picking up 10 of his RIR. I've seen how these birds were raised and highly recommend them.

We have lots of Chickens for sale this Spring!!

Since we sell eggs, we are very concerned with what these Chickens get to eat. They have NEVER been fed any Antibiotics or Hormones. We do not use commercial feed, but have always used a custom blend. For the last month the feed has been mixed at the Carnegie Coop and we have them add Fertrell's Poultry Nutri-Balancer to the feed. Fertrell's Poultry Nutri-Balancer is a vitamin and Mineral premix that is Organic Certified. The chickens also are moved to new fresh pasture weekly and allowed to free range on a 1/6th of a acre inside an electrified poultry netting. If you are looking for super healthy hens and roosters that are producing nutrient dense eggs, then look no further. We also sell feed if you are interested in getting away from commercial mystery feed.

Here is the list of available Hens and Roosters:

Rhode Island Red

Silver Laced Wyandotte

Buff Orpington

We are wanting $15 for the hens and $10 for the Roosters, but this price is negotiable when buying several. Email or Call to Haggle. 580 246 3315

Slow day here I see. Guess everyone's out doing chores or otherwise taking advantage of the long weekend.

Sure is windy out again today.

Here is a pic of a few of my youngest ones - two Polish and a White Rock.
