***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Lonnyandrinda, that coop is beautiful! I'm finally just now getting my coop building skills down to making 4x8 coops but without the fancy nestboxes and stuff lol But a year ago I couldnt make a square cube out of wood.
Kass, I candle mine at 3-4 days and if your flashlight is bright enough you can see lots of veins and detail. It gets increasingly difficult (for me) to tell what I'm looking at after 10-12 days. My BBR Phoenix eggs are at Day 5 and I'm seeing 6 definites out of 9, which is actually 3 more than I wanted. Our hatches will be 5 days apart then? I do agree with your opinions on the eggs you posted. The last 2 were too far along for me to be able to tell but that makes me think they're good and growing in there. If they weren't growing they'd be clear not dark.

Christina, what's wrong that you can't sleep and have to take meds? You're the busiest most energetic and optimistic person I know. I feel bad that something's wrong and you don't feel good.

Cooler temps are here!

Hopefully they'll stick around a bit and maybe some rain too.

With everything else this week, forgot we have to get ready to leave for KS state fair tomorrow.

Multi quotes, but lost.......

Betsy, I second or third, whatever on the bug bombs. I've even bug bombed a car before after a spider incident.

Whoever asked about the Ameraucana's/EEs, Kassaundra nailed all the relevant info. I love a colorful egg basket myself. If that's what you seek, agree with checking up on the hatcheries. I'd be hot to get a load of EE's that laid brown. All that time and money invested by the time you know for sure....

I'm getting algae even in the pool I've got chlorinated out the wazoo. Hope this temp break lasts at least awhile. We did fans and misters until they banned the outdoor water usage. We've got 5gal bucket/nipple waterers in every pen. We took these heavy duty empty Sunny Dee containers, filled almost full with water and kept in deep freeze every night. After lunch DS would take one out to put inside each bucket waterer. Back into freezer each night. Worked really well IMO. Nice big, yet portable and reusable ice blocks.

Much to do. I better get to work before the kids all start turning up with birds.

Thanks Mitzi
Just finished my apt & I was able to not only get blood work & 4 new prescriptions... But I am also waiting on a b-12 shot. So far all my blood work leaves me with a clean bill of health, so looking like fibromalgia. My B-12 levels were in the ok area... But lower than my last blood work up. So the injection is to give me a boost. Past 6wks I have gotten to where an hour trip to the grocery store is almost too much now. Hopefully they can figure something out soon. DH is threatening to move us back into town since I have not been doing well. I went from spending hours a day working outside to feeling like I can't make it down my front steps to get outside. It is awful to suddenly not be able to function the way I was a few months ago. Keep playing with different meds to enable me to function. I have avoided mediaction the past few yrs but now they are not avoidable.

I feel for you. It sounds an awful lot like me but I've pretty much came to the conclusion that its normal. Depression will manifest itself that way also. And contrary to what people say-you don't have to have a 'reason' for depression to hit. If you're female, that's about all the reason it needs. And it's physical, not just mental. You can become so dragged out and exhausted you don't know how you're going to get up the steps to get to bed. Fibromyalgia is something I've always meant to look further into. I'll have to look that up. I think the symptoms are real similar to depression.
The trouble with meds is having to try so many before you magically hit on one or 2 that work. I feel so bad for you, I always wondered where on earth you got the energy you had. Maybe it's bi-polar or something, you never know.

Depression can be a side effect of fibromyalgia, but don't think they considered it. Anti-depressants are the only thing they haven't given me this last month (or at least that is how it feels). When this started (and without pain meds) I couldn't grip a door knob or make the 6 inch step into my office without taking it very slow & holding onto the wall. Every joint aches & my skin feels sunburned in different places at times. The burning comes & goes. May last 5 minutes or an hour. Can be in one place or multiple. Hard to explain, but pure missery. I opted out of most conventional medicine when I discovered my liver cyst a few yrs ago. My chiropractor has been able to treat me with adjustments & acupuncture to keep me off most meds. But in recent months no relief after multiple attempts from my FABOULOUS chiropractor. I really prefer to avoid meds, but for now I need them. When the last of my blood test are back in a few wks guess I will get a treatment plan instead of just treating all the vague symptoms. My Dr is FABOULOUS the best one I have ever had in 13 yrs here. She will even call up @ dinner time going I thought of another test we could try & she really wants to find what is wrong & fix it.

Alexis is sleeping & looking pretty miserable from getting her teeth pulled. Taron says she is going to take a nap too-- said she had a rough day. Silly girl sat at her dads office while I went to my apt.
Anyone in the market for chicks, atwoods has all their brooders set up, they must be getting chicks in the AM.
For dinner tonight I made something new in the crockpot..... Smells so yummy! Even smelled good when I mixed it up this AM. http://www.food.com/recipe/crock-pot-carnitas-326866

Joe that's a BUNCH of ribbons. Think you may need to build a trophy room before you go to any more shows! WOW

Well I have not been on in a couple days and just got caught up on reading, I love the Cowboy Coop, and Joe your son has done a great job, it is so refreshing to see kids that love chickens and get in there and take care of their own stuff, please congratulate him for me!!! And congrats to you for doing a great job of being his dad or enabler!!! LOL On a sad note, I lost an old friend on Sept 1, he was 64 and he is in a better place now, he was in so much pain the last few years, may he rest in peace! Nice weather out today, hope we get some of the rain, so far it has split and went around us, its like we have this clear force field around our place!!! LOL Oh well, life goes on and it will get better I am sure! have a great day all! Lynn
