***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Here are some pics of my LaFletche trio. They are still young and growing. They are very different than my Cochins; flighty when I go in the pen but very calm and quiet on their own. Their feathers are exceptionally soft and shinny.

Handsome birds! Don`t see many of those around here. There was a pair of Brown La Fleche at the Okmulgee action years ago, I was outbid.

I`m sorta caught up around here so after I feed and water the birds I think I will take it easy for a day or so. I hope y`all have a great day!
Yikes! I wish we would get caught up around here ... but as soon as we finish one thing, something happens and we have to start on another project. It'll be January before we catch up I think at this point ... but by then we'll have chicks grown to process and another round of rabbits for the freezer and it will be time to get on the garden seed starts for spring planting. We don't even count daily maintenance chores in our list any more ... Glad someone gets to take it easy!! Enjoy for the rest of us!!

Have two eggs pipped since this morning. They aren't doing much though but sitting there. Still moving around some. Augh!!! The waiting nearly does me in.

We processed rabbits today to keep busy but that doesn't take long enough and now we're back to staring at the bator. All the rabbits finished out at 3 1/2 lbs, which is pretty good for a nice meal for us. My husband has requested rabbit and mushroom stew for his birthday tomorrow so I'm cooking broth from the rib sections and fragranting my whole house with it.

Had a hawk swoop down on the flock today and land in the neighbors yard on their clothesline pole. They all went nuts. We had our little meat birds out at the time so we scrambled to catch 25 CX 3 week olds that were running all over plus two bantys. Got em all safe though.

Guess I'll go back to watching the incubator now.

The bator watch is horrible!!!! lol lol llol Glad you got all your chicks safe from the hawk. We lost several until we built the covered brooder.

13 of the 15 guinea eggs hatched (other two were duds) and are now safely in the brooder! Note to self, forget incubating, just stick them under a guinea!

Bill - I'll get pics of the pigs this weekend. I'm hoping Chris will get their new pen done and I can avoid posting a pic of them in their embarassingly small enclosure :(
