Dachund's are vicious when it comes to rabbits. They enjoy the kill...not just the hunt and will not stop as long as there is something to kill. When we lived in OKC we had several different kinds of rabbits and let them roam in our wood panel fenced back yard in the evenings. The neighbor was babysitting his mother's weenie dog and he dug under the fence and killed three and almost the 4th before we could catch him. It died later. I was ready to wring his neck. The sound of a rabbit screaming is one I won't forget. We haven't had rabbits since.
Our daughter's dachund was the same way with mice, snakes, kittens, squirrels, etc.
This is so true... we have a dog who is a Rat Terror mix whose name is Dixie and she is our bonifide RAT Killer... she out does both our cats... she doesnt mess with the rabbits or squirrels like Adrian does but she has a nack for catching moles. gophers and other things like that...
I am just grateful both her and Adrian are fierce protectors of all the poultry... when we had baby chicks last spring my husband accidently dropped one and when it chirped loudly... dixie gave dad the stink eye and watched him carefully when he went to picking it back up...
Now this year seems to be the year that our Chinese Goose is the fierce protector of all the babies born this year as of recently... we have had to dub him Mr Mom... lol
Our dog, Louie, loves the baby chicks. Thursday a chick squeezed out of the brooder and was running around the garage floor. Louie followed it around and alerted Joe to its location.
He is laying beside my chair now, tuckered out. Today he went with us to help a friend in Harrah clear out brush in his backyard. Tonight he went to a wedding - a neighbor got married in his mom's yard and evereyone in the neighborhoodknows him so he was invited. i think alot of people snuck him some people food when I wasn't looking!
