Hi all! The flu has hit hard here. Was hoping the extended Christmas break at school would allow everyone to get healthy. Helped some, but as everyone congregates again, round 2 has begun. Makes me want to just stay home and hibernate. Prayers for those who are sick or who are taking care of the sick!

Question....I am wanting to band chicks once they hatch. All will be standard size. What size leg bands to I need to get?

i was told today that if you take lots of vitamin D-3 that you will not get the flu. If have the flu it will ease the pain. Birds around are doing good so far this winter. Lost one last week, went out and it was laid over on the ground, no sign of it been ill previously,

I went through Blanchard in the wee hours of the morning this morning in the ambulance.

Hope everyone got out to enjoy the pretty day. MJ sorry to here you have the flu. We spent all day outside cleaning, spraying ozone and disinfecting water bowls. The birds were extremely happy to have fresh straw and they got lots of fermented feed as a nice treat.

Christina I am shocked Taron parted with birds. I sold some today but only my splash marans will be missed. I kept last years hatch but sold my beautiful pair to a nice guy in Nicoma Park, so glad they found a good home.

Wish we could go to Blanchard tomorrow but we have basketball all day.

I use size 4 on my standard size chicks, Works great for about 2-4 weeks, then I skip up to size 6. Just keep an eye on them that you don't let them get too tight before you change them.

The hospitals here are overflowing w flu cases.
And I work on a germy campus. Eek!

On a brighter note, it was a beautiful day. My animals all seemed very chipper.

Anyone have LAVENDER AMERAUCANA's? Seen an auction for the eggs, but I know Taron would be happy with a pair or 2. Honestly would rather spend the money on good quality chicks then gamble on shipped eggs.

Are we having a POOPS get together this yr? Kids are already talking about it & Taron wore her poops shirt today.

We got a new incubator with an automatic egg turner which currently has 8 turkey eggs in it. We have a whole bunch of turkey eggs waiting to go in after this batch comes out so hopefully we'll get a bator full before too long.

What kind of turkeys do you raise? I don't think I have ever had a Narragansett turkey egg before March and they stop laying in September or October.
