***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Lynn I come across a bunch of pallets and have some brood pens made out of them, just temp wired together. But have enough am thinking of doing something like you have. How do you nail them without them splitting. By the way, nice pens.

Well Guy I tell ya its and Old Red Neck secret!!!! I use baling wire and lay them side by side and wire them in three places then stand them up and wire them at the corners three times and drive a tpost in the corner(usually I do this before I stand them up by measuring first!!!) and then I wire them to the tpost!!! Had to stop a couple times working and go feed the horses soas I would have enough wire to finish a set of pens though!!!! LOL LOL LOL I use long roofing nails to hold the tin, and if I need a runner to nail to I wire in a 2x4 !!! Lynn

I sure hope she's better when you check. I haven't been doing anything for mine, but they are in the middle of a bunch of trees with shade everywhere. Do you think they'll be okay?

Traci

Shade and plenty of water are essential. I've lost 6 4-6 week old chick to heat stress...just makes me sick! We don't have any trees near the barn big enough to offer the kind of shade needed so I'm having to improvise.
And the Delaware is acting like nothing was ever wrong.
