Hello all, I have been lurking for a while, been crazy busy. I am need of some guidance. My 8 year old daughter wants to show chickens, 4H. We had some OEGB's and a tri of Modern bantams. We lost them in the blizzard. We had no power for almost 6 days. I am looking for show quality eggs or birds. She likes bantams, rosecombs, silkies,oegbs,moderns. Really anything that isn't too aggressive or flighty. I would prefer to buy from an Okie if possible. Would also concider going to an auction if there are any going on right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

some of my chickens are having some loose poop runny & greenish smells bad what could this be? i got these chickens free & they were in a pen with lots of chickens (small space) only had em for few weeks they now have large yard & roomy coop plenty of water & food with me. all seem happy & act normal will this get better on its own or do I need to give them something (vitamins/meds)?????

might give them some corid , it treats cocci , being in small space with a bunch of birds could do it , also if you dont know if they have been wormed you may want to worm them sometime as well but not at the same time you are medicating them . n prolly go ahead and dust them for mites 7 dust works well , get you some permethrin for leg mites mist their legs, spray nests and coop with it ,

There is a guy in Watonga that raises beautiful bantam orpingtons. His name is Don Chandler. You can try to reach him thru the United Orpington Club. He is the president and he loves to help 4H kids. He is out of pocket on a teaching assignment but if you can get a phone number or an email I promise you won't be disappointed.

If you get to the Guy Rose Auction early enough, you can put your birds in cages that are there. Otherwise, you'll have to use your own cages, but they won't sell the cages with the birds unless you specify they are to go with them. They'll come around and get your information and tag your cages. They'll start the auction at the end of the line that is along the fence and under the roof--where the eggs are--and go down the line all the way to the end before they come back to the other lines of cages under the roof. You can stay for the auction, or you can leave and they'll mail you your check. I've had pretty good luck selling my birds there (I have silkies and showgirls), but haven't sold there many times, nor for a year or more.

Thank you! I will check him out. We are going to have several breeds and then she can choose which ones she wants to raise and I'll just have to keep the others.
