***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I have an assortment of chickens! I have barred rocks, buff orphingtons, australops, silver laced wyandottes, rhode island reds, and a brahma rooster (16 chickens total). I also have 4 ducks. I have been incubating and selling chicks. I have 4 hens of laying age and the rest will start very soon, so I am in need of another rooster. I love the one I have now, he was a rescue and is a very sweet boy. I am looking for a rooster that is very friendly or is young so I can work with him, I don't do mean birds! My husband already thinks I'm nuts, so don't think I'll be driving to Blanchard for an auction! Anyway I'm north of Stillwater so I was trying to find a rooster somewhere close.
Why not get some Brahma pullets for your Brahma rooster and a Buff Orpington roo for the Buffs or a SLW roo for the Wyandottes. Then you will have some pure bred chicks to sell. enable...enable...enable

Quote: About a broodie raising chicks..we had a city-slicker ask me one time..."where do the chicks get their milk if chicken nurses her babies?" when I was telling her that the hen would raise the babies. It was all I could do to not laugh.
glad i wasn't drinking anything or my screen would be baptised!

Reminds of when I had moved to L.A.and we got a new employee and she had never been outside of the L.A. area except to visit in-laws in Bakersfield. She found out that I was from Oklahoma and she actually ask me at work, in the break room in front of other co-workers if we still drove covered wagons and rode horses. My reply to her was "yes we do and i actually lived in a Teepee since Indian blood in me." and she believed me. I finally fessed up and told her the truth.

One of the funniest egg/chicken story I've heard was many years ago in a group. One of the men mentioned he'd had fertile eggs for breakfast. Another person asked what were fertile eggs, and he explained. Whereupon another said, "Well, I knowed chickens be had under chickens, but I never knowed they come from eggs!"

I am certain an Okie can get you a nice Roo! I will PM MItzi, she always has had very nice roos & she LOVES to share. Maybe a few others will chime in with offers.
I pm'd her back! Hopefully we can work something out. I've always heard buff roosters are one of the nicer ones. I thought about looking for one at an auction, but in my personal experience it was the mean roos that were having to be sold that way. I just try to buy from individuals, who I hope are honest with me!
