***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Our thought is long term. Hopefully adding the dairy we will get moms that have more milk to feed their kids in 2 yrs. Many meat producers have been doing this to get kids to slaughter weight faster. You should come see my Nubian, she puts my boers to shame! Every goat on this place is scared of her! My Nubian Saanen cross is small compared to her.
The up coming meat goat conference finishes up with a Kiko auction. The catalog isn't listed yet, I am guessing it will all be to pricey for my pocket, but always fun to atend-- the girls & I are going. They are looking forward to learning to do fecal counts http://www.nkrextension.com/coming-events.html
OK i see i didn't know that a larger milk production would benefit in that way just thought it would be better for mom's who had triplets so they would have enough to go around....our girl, is a nubian also or i guess i should say girls we have a mom and daughter pair. the daughter seems more robust than the mom, lol.
Learning to do fecal counts would be cool, i love looking at things in a microscope. I found a farm in Kansas that has kikos at reasonable prices maybe going to get one from there just a have to find time to schedule an app. to go and look at the farm.

^this is the mom

^ this is her daughter.

Hoping everyone stays safe during these storms.

no loss of power as I have two full incubators.

We may wash away here, if the hail doesn't beat us into the ground first. Thankfully we have a back up generator! So thankful I held off on planting seedlings because of the chance of frost tomorrow.

Those Nubians look nice. I have never looked into Kikos much but I am sure after seeing lots of nice ones the auction I will prob find a sudden interest in them.

Thanks, lol maybe i can bet they will be expensive like you said though.

I have no idea who that is....lol!
Last time a bought "Wheaten" eggs at the auction I paid 20 dollars and ended up with blues and blacks....not one Wheaten in the bunch

Well, I contacted someone online that has Wheatens and they wanted 60 a dozen....for shipped eggs, to me that's an arm and a leg for eggs that you might get lucky and have a 50% hatch.

That IS high.
Jack is my neighbor, (We live in Choctaw) and I am pretty sure his eggs would be quite a bit less than that. He has 5 colors of Marans - Cuckoo, Gold Salmon, Black Copper. Wheaten and Blue.

Kass, I can asparagus. It is too mushy if blanched and frozen.
MJ, thanks of all the work on the POOPs tshirts. No, won't have asparagus at POOPS...I have family that eats it.

We have lots of thunder and lightening right now...no rain yet....but it's coming . The dogs have me covered..using Red's back as a desk right now. We have discussed loading the dogs into the truck and heading away from the storm if a tornado is in our area...the cellar is full of water. I have two incubators full of eggs..one in lockdown. And 250 tomato plants in the hot tub room.

On a brighter note, I gave three lockdown eggs to a broody Blue Wyandotte hen that has been sitting on an empty nest for 25 days...toughest bird to break I've ever had. She actually blew up her feathers when I gave her the eggs and hissed at me....lol...she's going to make a great Mom. And gave two eggs to Delilah to hatch. She's been broody for two weeks and has been stealing eggs from the other Cochin hens.

Those of you with goats, have you ever met Sky Shivers from Prague. He is a big meat goat breeder/enthusiast.
