***OKIES in the BYC III ***

So glad to of found you all again. I have a question to put out. I was wondering where you get egg cartons to put your eggs In to sell? I was hoping there was a place fairly local that I could get some, without having to order them online. I live near Tulsa.

Thanks!

orchelains also has them
Finally finished the run and coop for the 'special needs' girls, so they are moved outside, and they seem very thankful to be able to be there- nothing makes a chicken happier than to be able to scratch around and sunbathe- and makes for a happy mama- i love my animals but some just need to be outside...:) So that will leave seramas (2 pair) Honey the rescue OEGB and Gizmo in the studio, and the broody in the spare bath and the kittens in the spare bedroom, sigh, they still need homes - craigs list didn't work, am checking around for low cost spay programs- then they could be barn cats if i have to

Hope everyone's having a great day, dads especially. Happy Father's Day!

Gawain decided he'd challenge Fluffy Bunny to a duel, so I put a feed bucket between them and walked away. Works every time. The boys were dust bathing together when I went to retrieve the feed bucket. Nothing like sharing food to put a man (rooster) in the right frame of mind : )

HA food works every time, yep.

I would think you need to keep them all well past the chick stage to determine sex and even longer on the females to decide which ones to keep for showing. Other than Craigslist you can sell or give away the extras by posting ad here, take them to a poultry swap, or take them to an auction.

Thanks for the input. The auction is for 10 eggs, so I wouldn't be overrun with chicks even if 100% hatched. We go to our first 4H meeting on Monday and I'm looking forward to getting more guidance in that program. I could hold on to some extra hens for a while but would have some very unhappy neighbors with a rooster.

You are planning on keeping more then the one chicken your daughter is going to show right? Chickens are social animals and need other chickens, at least a buddy.
