I think it was way to cold for snakes last night. A cat that is chicken friendly is NEVER chick friendly! They can squeeze through the tiniest spots you would never imagine!

My bantam Cochin chicks go thru chicken wire without ruffling a feather.I think it was way to cold for snakes last night. A cat that is chicken friendly is NEVER chick friendly! They can squeeze through the tiniest spots you would never imagine!
yep- spent the day getting stuff done, porch pens are wrapped, everyone had their yummy feed and seed and extra litter-Am I the only one who spent most the day outside wrapping pens and kennels in plastic and plugging in water heater tins? I've still got 9 pens or yards without heated water out of 17 but it'll help having the rubber tubs to dump the ice out of and refill. The Leghorn chicks have a 250 watt heat lamp triple-secured in a 3x4 doghouse in a 10x10 chain link kennel. They're covered on 3 sides but I'm still really worried about them because they're only 10 wks old. Do you about think they'll be ok? All the other chicks are inside in heated areas.
All 10 of the Silkies I had in lockdown hatched by last night. I incubated 10 Sizzles along with them and not a single one of them has hatched. That's so weird. They're not officially due until tomorrow but the Silkies were a day early like most so I figured these would be, too. The Silkies were pipped 2 days ahead. Healthiest batch of Silkies I've ever seen. I just know it's because the guy sent me such fresh eggs.
