***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hope everyone had a delicious Thanksgiving

I just set 4 eggs in my homemade incubator I built so I can test it out soo excited to see if it works.

Not that I have found. When I researched it, it would cost $50 for a dozen eggs plus vet verifications and then shipping..might result in poor hatch. Costs over $600 to get an adult pair across the border in addition to the price of a pair. That includes vet check on both side of the border but not shipping...

@Kyzmette , there is a new and active thread about them, and an older thread started by revolution that is very informative, lots of history and the like, and FB group started by revolution (byc name) Kermit is his FB name here is a link https://www.facebook.com/groups/WhichCameFirst/

it used to be much more active but there are some very serious breeders in this group, some bycers some not.

Had a wonderful visit with Shelbydog today and showed her how to candle an egg. Cathie Sue, your EEs are looking really good so far! I wish the eggshells were lighter so we could have had a clearer view but one was light enough we could make out her little beak. So far we still have 11 potentially viable eggs.
Holy cow! 11? i'd better come up with a plan. Are you keeping some? I'll start saving SFH eggs next week. I know you'll want some of those to keep! Do you want to try staggered hatches? We can talk about it on Sunday.

I might keep a couple. I fell in love with this gorgeous Araucana mix roo, so he's going to need a flock. And I definitely want SFH! Who wouldn't want those cutie patooties?! That should be easy, though, since I like crests and you prefer non-crested. And thank you for the option of letting me keep a couple of them. Since I'll be working with them as chicks, there's no way I won't get attached to that special one or two.

Oh, and ask Shelbydog about how my chickens behave. She met Orlando.

Thanks tons Kass. I've read through tons of the info on BYC and had already requested eggs from Yashar right before he announced he wouldn't be in the breeding business for a while. The good news on that front is that his Huastecs went to a woman here in southwest OK, so I might get some down the road. I've contacted tons of people, but haven't been lucky yet. Eventually I will!

I know it's a long shot, but sure would love to see a Cream Legbar or Isbar pullet or hen (or eggs) in Tahlequah. I'd REALLY love to see a real Araucana, Quechua, Olmec or Collonca, but one can only dream. Or the perfect pony. It would be pink and snort sparkles. The colloncas would be riding on its back.

I won't be at Tahlequah... but I will have some Cream Legbar pullets or young hens available in a few weeks or maybe up to 2 months. I have a bunch growing up and will be choosing my breeders soon. I'm in Coweta now.

Cathie Sue I want some SFH chicks or eggs from you too sometime remember! I did order 4 chicks to have as extras when I bought some double laced barnie chicks this fall- and it looks like I got a perfect quad or maybe two pairs! But I'd like to have at least two sources.
