Hotcurltr, I've been there more than enough times with favorite birds (and dogs). For me it never gets easier when it's one of my favorites. The one consolation is having them die while you're holding them. Harder for us but so much more comforting for them.
Miohippus, goats are hilarious but I'm not convinced they're the smartest of all creatures. The look on their faces in your picture says it all :-D

Kass, are you going? I need to get Oreo's boys picked up from you. Thank you for the picture of them together. They look so much like my Delaware girls, that's going to be a good match putting them with the Delawares. If you can't make it to the show I need to set up a time for you to meet me at your Walmart to get them. Little Man (aka Big Manny lol!) is doing wonderful. His girls dote on him, he's such a ham. He's a very proud boy taking care of his girls, I do adore him.
This weather sucks. 8 of the pens or yards don't have heated waterers. Lugging buckets of hot water got old the 1st day. I'm going to figure out something for next winter. Consolidate birds somehow. If not for the fact I've got so many roosters I could put them all together in one area.
This dog showed up under 1 of the carports yesterday, I'm trying to find his owner. Neutered male and he's real soft and clean. I'm pretty sure he's a house dog and he wouldn't leave so I had no choice but to take care of him. I've got close to a dozen dogs of my own so I guess he figures this must be the gathering place for canines. It's sad because he's got a gray face and cataracts, he's probably 8-9 yrs old. He's real gentle and submissive and well behaved. I'm keeping someone's dog safe, I just don't know whose yet.
