***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Poco, is that cockerel a Delaware? I love his color, Delawares are such cool birds.
I'm so sick of this ice and cold. I'm going to have to figure out a way to consolidate birds for winter. If I hadn't went overboard hatching maybe I'd have otten that done this year :-D What's making it worse is so many roosters. But I so love my roosters :-/ I'm not sure I'd even want to keep chickens if I couldn't have my boys. All the more reason to learn to caponize, that's my New Years resolution. Why is it the boys who are so cuddly and affectionate? And OEGB girls, too. They've got to be the tamest sweetest little things.
Kass those ice pictures are wonderful. Such detail.
Still haven't caught anything in the traps. It's just got to be a coon to kill so many in 1 night. And the insides of 1 was eaten but only the heads missing on the others. It makes me sick to think it could've been Lillith, my BrownRed Cochin boy & his Orloff girls, their shed door wasn't closed either and they were only 50' away.
Anyway-Merry Christmas everyone! We have to go Play Family tonight in Chickasha at my sister's. Anyone from a dysfunctional home knows what I mean and how to "Play Family" during the holidays :)
His mom is a Coronation Sussex, but I don't know who his dad is. He does have nice coloring. If you want to order a capon tool set, I'm placing an order on January 15. You can PM me for prices. I can get a double set (rooster and chick sized blades, spoons, and dilators) or a single set with a rounded blade (works for large and small birds). Are you following Kassaundra's capon thread? I'm thinking we need to have a get-together this summer for those who need help using the tools.

I am really interested in caponizing but just wish there were people around that actually knew how to do it. The idea of cutting open a living fully conscious bird freaks me out a bit

That's my birthday so I can get it for my birthday present lol I'll PM you. I haven't read Kass's thread the past few wks but used to follow it, I'll go catch up.
Robin, that tractor and coop is awesome!! Poco is wonderful for that :))

Sharing pics I took with my new samsung smartcamera. Ice storm pics first then some chickens shots.

These are the 3 marans pullet I bought at the Shawnee show. If I remember right I got a wheaten, a splash wheaten, and a black tail buff. The freebie splash wheaten cockerel up front is at Coral's getting his little nuggets removed. First thing out of my mouth when the seller asked me to take a cockerel was "he's getting caponized if you give him to me".

Here is my temporary bantam/juvie pen - It's got the bantam faverolles I got from Robin in there, 2 d'uccle hens, 3 juvies from Coral, and that cool NN named Boss Lady I got from Coral. Once weather gets better Boss Lady and the 3 juvies will join the big girls and I'm going to build a permanent pen for the bantams.

Here are some duck pictures

Here's the chickie boos...some pics are close ups of feathers testing the camera's zoom.
