***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I love that picture of Big Mama.. She is so cute..
As for being impatient about getting the birds you want, all I can say is "Patience Grasshopper, Patience, they will come!"

But I understand because I used to be like this

I am trying but it's so hard with all these lovely chickens coming through these threads!!!!

Well I have finally decided and I am content w/ my descision. After the big loss of most of my flock I was going next month to order birds from Nava (she has awesome NN). I was going to intergrate them w/ my birds and hatch from the best of all of them. But w/ as few birds as I have left that would really seriously water down the genes I was trying to establish. So instead I am going to borrow back my 3 NN hens I gave my FIL and hatch from what I have left then after a gen or two I might add Nava's birds for size and some added color, but then her birds will add to my genetics and not over take them.

Dusti and Coral are going to Checotah, so Dusti will pick up my poor neglected hen. I can't BELIEVE I forgot I bought a chicken!

Great plan. You had a wonderful beginning and having a few back up hens means you get to continue with your genetics.

We suffer from the symptoms of Partzheimers at our house quite often...and there is no known cure. (Please don't think I'm poking fun at anyone who suffers with Alzheimer's...both my FIL and Great Aunt were victims.)

Just wondering , is almost everyone on this thread from around the Tulsa area ? I live in Newcastle most of the things I read everyone is a ways from me. I was also wondering if every feed companies layer pellets or crumbles have a lot of fines in it? Almost like dust.
Eddie, I am in Newcastle too! There are also a few folks from Blanchard on here, but I haven't seen them post lately....

~~Seems it's cold enough outside to almost freeze me instantly, but not soap bubbles. Maybe it will be early in the morning before I go to work. If it's going to be this cold I want frozen soap bubbles!
Hope that you are feeling better now!

This reminds me of friends of ours when we were in Yokosuka Japan. They lived off base in an older, traditional Japanese home. They had a larger family so actually had a house (instead of an apartment like we did). The bathrooms were unheated somehow and one winter I recall them complaining about the shampoo freezing!

Had a bad asthma attack this morning, been just sitting around trying to let my lungs recover. Just took a slow stroll to the chicken coop and back. Didn't get winded but my lungs are burning and heavy again.
Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry.

Are you okay, now?

I don't have athsma, but I have the beginning of what appears to be a fainting disorder. It's not neurological or heart related, as we had thought it was, but I will actually have issues that the doctor said were prelude to fainting.

So that could be a problem later on...

Granddaughters are here for the weekend. I bought a toddler bed and mattress, two car seats, a high chair, a booster chair, and linens. DH installed the safety gate at the top of the stairs yesterday. I think we're ready to baby sit.

No eggs for the past few days. Maybe we'll get a little sunshine this weekend to jumpstart the hens.
