***OKIES in the BYC III ***

This may sound crazy but try the pound. In Comanche county the pound has all the answers to animal related stuff. They are awesome in pointing you in the right direction. Good luck with your new baby. We had a cute family of skunks at the driveway the other night. The mamma was telling them all which way to go. Then I had to remember skunks are not cute. They are bad & not good to my chickens! But I do wish I would have taken a picture. Just adorable!

As for future predators I stopped @ bass pro today & bought a small riffle that the girls & I can handle. Tired of killing those egg eating snakes with a shovel or hoe! I use to be in the army so I should still be able to aim & shoot right? Just waiting for it to cool off so we can go have target practice.

I feed their All Way and just wish I could get it in a pellet. I also feed their game bird and game bird breeder and have been happy with them.

It's mostly Gerald that does all the hard work feeding and collecting the eggs. I just water everything and feed a little dog food for extra protein (especially the animal protein) that isn't included in chicken feeds. Maybe it is the water ... we have a live spring water creek that begins about a half a mile from our house, so water is especially good. It's high in nitrogen too, which makes the plants thrive. Maybe it adds in fertility? Anyway, we try to only sell hatching eggs less than 5 days from being laid, and not any that are too small, too large, dirty or not well colored.

OkieChickenDad, that is so wonderful! I hope your daughter enjoys them. Just remember baby turkeys aren't too bright when it comes to learning how to eat & drink. I usually add a chick or 2 in with them to show them how. Also, sometimes newly hatched turkey poults will jump in the waterer and drown. If one tries ... then others will do the same thing. We've had a few mass turkey poult suicides in the past. I usually add marbles or rocks in the drinking water (just enough to keep the poult from dunking it's head totally in the water when it drinks) for a few days until the poults are a little more mature.

I wish I wasn't stuck working overtime tonight, but luckily I could bring my laptop computer for when I'm not too busy :)

I think I need to go buy some Bloomset for our tomato and other vegetable plants! Thanks Nanakat for the great advice!

I bought a bottle of Bloom Set today when I was at King's Feed to buy chick feed.

I have fed big v for years to about evry kind of animal... i am local and know the owner.. its a good feed and its cheaper then most brands..you can compare ingredients with the name brand feed and it will be exatly the same but a cheaper price...

Wonderful pens MJ.

With the roost it looks like the board is at an angle which puts an edge on top. You might put a wedge under the ends of the roost so a flat side is up. As the birds get heavier you could have some problems with bumblefoot in the future.

Thank you, I have been wondering about those boards.

I've been trying to figure out how to build roosts for my chickens. This is perfect and looks pretty easy to build. Thanks for sharing.

Same here. I live about a mile from the Big V mill. I buy their All Way feed and their racing pigeon blend.

My only complaint about Big V is that they close at noon on Saturdays! That's too early to be awake on a Saturday!

I have never bought a bloomset product before I have always just mixed a spoonful of Epson salts in a gallon of water and misted my tomatoes and peppers once or twice a week the potassium will bring on the blooms, It really does work well I have done it for as long as I have grown them.

I'm on late tonight I just got home from a family get together south of Lawton had a great time seeing my sisters and family something I don't get to do very often,

My BIL that lives there has an interesting garden, he is using 55 Gal plastic drums for different things, Raised beds, Aquaponics, and for his potatoes instead of tires, Most of it would be doing a lot better but he is having trouble staying ahead of the heat and wind it's worse there than here that part of the state needs more trees LOL
