***OKIES in the BYC III ***

As soon as the chicks break an egg open the humidity will jump due to all the moisture inside the egg.

I was wondering if that might be it . Monday was going to be hatch day, five have hatched out so far today. How long do I leave the hatched chicks I the Bator??

Does anyone need to thin their laying flock? Mine was wiped out by a dog , all but one. Luckily my daughters birds were in a different pen, but now all my layers are gone. Sucks it takes sooo long to get them to FIANALLY start laying. Anyways I need some young hens if anyone has too many shoot me prices. I know I missed Newcastles auction tonight, does Blanchard have one next weekend?

Everybody does that differently. They can go about 48 hours without food and water due to the yolk sustenance they received. Some let them fluff and transfer them, some let them stay in the bator until all are hatched and fluffed, so as to not risk losing the humidity for the rest of the eggs. Let them fluff and transfer them when it's best for you, depending on your bator.

If we were closer I could help you with chicks, but no laying birds yet that I could part with, sorry. All the laying chookies I have now are my most favorite girls! Some day I will have an army of Bumpers chickies, though, and will be giving them to everybody who wants them! It's part of Bumpers's plan to take over the world.

I have one more hooda chick out, she is normal skin colored, and black and yellow wet fluff, hard to see the patterning since she is all wet. I think she has a bigger bow tie then the first little black one. Also have a green egg pipping.

Dang, this wind here in Broken Arrow is strong, just hoping and praying no power outage, since I have chicks hatching today..
