***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Sigh, it just happened again. I think Lord Dingwald suffered some internal injuries the other day, because he's been under the weather ever since. I thought he was just healing, but this morning I noticed his comb was looking a little dusky. I went out to get him with the intention of keeping him inside for a few days to doctor him up, but as I was carrying him in, he seized in my arms and died. Poor baby boy.

So sorry. :(

So very sorry for your loss. :)

This forum is really a Godsend for people like me who get way attached to their chickies. You're always there to help with a hug when we get bad news, helpful information when we need to treat sickness in the flock, tips and tricks to make life easier, and congratulations on new arrivals. And unlike many threads I've seen, you're not spiteful, snooty, trollish cows. Nobody argues or fusses or practices one-upsmanship.

Thank you all for that.

I'm sorry you lost him. He had the best possible life with you.

I moved my baby NNs outside today. They are in a mobile coop with more room than they know what to do with. Fly, fly, fly was the order given by the NN that turned out to be a BCM cockerel. I think I have three girls and three boys. NN fool me all the time. Let's see if my gender guesses match with anyone else's.

Hatched from Dark Egg - cockerel #1

Hatched from Dark Egg - cockerel #2. You are not a NN!!!!!

Hatched from Dark Egg - cockerel #3

Hatched from Dark Egg - pullet #1

You didn't happen to get the Rhodebars eggs in Newcastle, did you? I supposedly got 7 chicks at that auction in early March. They LOOKED like Rhodebars (I thought there were 5 girls, 2 boys), but two that looked like girls ended up being boys, some ended up with pea combs, etc. I don't think I can safely say any of them look like Rhodebars (save maybe two boys) at 7 weeks. Aggravating, but I didn't pay much for them. You get what you pay for, I guess.

Nope coweta. They look like the photos online. I culled all but one boy and will just sell the pair, I've got other things I want in pens more than to deal with that ratio!

I'm so sorry. I find myself getting more attached to my birds than I ever thought possible.
