No, not that I have noticed, neither do his hatch mates. The comb is growing, but not as much as it looks, for the first 1-2 weeks in was bent over flat against his head, it took almost 2 weeks for it to plump up and stand up.Does Rudy know he is different? That comb is really growing, does that mean his really is a boy?![]()
Rudy is adorable!!
Does anyone raise quail?? I have a few and am going to incubate some soon. I'm excited to raise my own this year instead of buying them.![]()
What a lot of talent. What grade are these kids in?
I saw her post, but I thought she wanted more than that. I'd go get them if I had read this sooner. But tom. is another Dr. appt. and yet another on Wed. It sure is getting old.One of my gnaders almost killed one of my muscovy hens. When she got off the nest he grabbed her, and I think he was trying to breed her, not sure, but she was fighting hin and he just started flaying her and had his mouth arond her neck. I 'm surprized I didn't kill him.. I t ried to get him off her and another joined in. I took the pitchfork handle and wacked him on the back hard several times before he let go. Glenn came running out of the house because he heard me screaming. Tonight she seems ok Just really sore and the gander just stood around for awhile, so I thoought I might of injured his back, but he's back to normal now and as mean as ever. I either need to rehome him or find some more females soon. If I can't I'll have to put him in freezer camp. It breaks my heart because he's one I hand raised, but has become very onery. He's the tufted roman. I did find a female in Texas right on the border by Hugo, so maybe, if it's still there. How is the drake u got from me on the swap. Is he kind or just like the boys were before? I locked the muscovey hens up and will supervise when they get out to take a dip in the kiddie pool. They can eat and drink in the pen. It sounds like you're getting as many ducks as chickens. They breed reproduce fast and eat a lot as ducklings. At least mine did. Congratulations on all your new babies..Sigh.....the lady I bought fav chicks from is selling about 13 of them for $5 each. I'm not in mood to drive 6 hrs today to snatched them all up and she can't hold them for me for 2 weeks. So this is what chick purchase withdrawal feels like.
He wants $75.00, but he might take less if offered. He's going to have surgery and just can't keeep up w/ the numbers anymore. I hope I'll be able to stop by tom. I didn't come in until almost 11:00 tonight. The kids in the brooder house were having a hard time w/ the mamas w/ chicks I put in there, so I divided it this evening. One of my Welsummer pullets was dead, and I thought maybe the hens killed her, but there were no peck marks and blood. Her bottom did have poop on it, but not bloody. After I cleaned it and rebedded I layed down w/ them for hours and observed. All seem to have normal poop, but 2 more of the Welsummer pullets were all fluffed up. None of the others seemed effected, but I'm wondering if they are just cold, since they were so used to being in the room with the meal worms, which stays hot for them. It's almost midnight, but i think I'm going to go down and put another heat lamp with a warmer bulb. They were pretty stressed out. They calmed down when I layed down in there qw/ them and most of them used me as a percha nd went to sleep. Warm body, I guess. My appt. is in the afternoon tom., so I hope I can get up and get everything done, so I can come visit. I'm excited to see the new baby. I've never seen a serama chick before. I have some Americauna chicks, a week old and some 4 days old, if u need one let me know. Molly, the name of the Welsummer pullet with the wry neck is really improving. Just very lonely. I should have brought the cold pullets back in for her. What do u think.? I know she's stressed being alone, but I don't want her pushed around and injured more. I have those black sex link I could put her with, but I was going to make a bigger brooder and put all the ohers with them, even thought they are almost a week older. I did it with the SS and they did fine w/ chicks a week older.i have the little one still in the brooder, there is one more i hope will hatch, if not i will see if one of the others will raise him, am afraid of giving him to amber, as one of the jg chicks might step on him. How much is he selling those smaller pens for?? i could sure use something like that for silkies, or for sure Sonny and the girls, they need a bigger area BAD.
Coral Wonderful work by your students!
Stay safe with the weather tonite everyone!
I don't know if it's because he doesn't have feathers, but his comb looks very male, and the size of his legs. I've really never seen NN's at this age so I don't know what is normal for them. He sure is a cute little guy. Don't u ever feel like just wrapping him up and rocking him? I am probably the only weird ones that do that. Oh, no wait a minute, if I'm not mstaken I think NanaKat said, she's done that. I hope I'm not lying. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I guess take me off the list for the cochin want. We got 17 LF cochin chicks today.P.O.O.P.S 2014
Want/Bring List
Wants
Muesky - LF cochins (blue, black, splash and/or white), pretty pullets or laying hens.
Trues – One LF cochin pullet/hen
The air sacks are created by the hen so no need to let fresh eggs rest. Shipped eggs should be treated differently.can anyone tell me if fertile eggs need to rest before incubation to start air sack
Oh my gosh! I saw that too! I got so excited until I googled where she was and DARN IT! She's waaaaaaaayyyyy down south. I know exactly how you feel.Sigh.....the lady I bought fav chicks from is selling about 13 of them for $5 each.
