***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Ugh, I hadn't but it's POURING in OKC. Everyone in Tulsa stay safe.

Edit: how in the world do I do nested quotes? Subhanalah was replying to Chickenfan4life, but that didn't show up in my quote?

It's something in the "preferences" in the top right of the screen on the desktop version if I remember right.

For anyone interested, Atoka County is beginning a poultry/rabbit farmers market/auction starting this month on the second Tuesday of each month. Anyone wanting to sell can begin dropping off at 12:00. Sale is to begin at 6 or 6:30 (If I recall correctly).

Anytime!

Ugh I'm getting so frustrated with this weather forecast. I REALLY need to check my beehives and I have people waiting and calling me daily for honey but with rain in the forecast every day and clouds when it's not raining it is not a good time to check the hives and pull off some early honey! But the wet June forecast is good for them so I guess I can't be too upset! It means a prolonged honey season and more honey for me to take!

Quote: My gosh! How crazy! These two were just downright disrespectful. They don't teach in schools that you should respect each other, and everyone's property. Or maybe they do.. ? I don't know. I have been homeschooled all my life!
I do not believe it's the school's responsibility to teach children respect. That begins at home and the problem is these parents were never taught to respect others, thus begins the snowball.

Here is my mystery roo a little bit older. He looks like the boy That Kass picked out for Dusti. What breed do you guys think he is? He wouldn't stay still for a great picture so here goes. I think he is pretty He is one of the 4 I am thinking of keeping.

OMG, RAIN! I've been sweating the hay crop this year. We cut 30 acres and made 10 rounds. The price of hay is going to be around $100/round if we don't get some serious rain.

Keep it coming!

I am so excited, I just have to share!
Of the 3 rescue girls I picked up about a month ago I am now getting 2 eggs a day. They are 2 cochin hens and a sizzle "pullet". I was told the pullet was only about 2months old and she acts pretty roo-ish but there hasnt been any crowing and yesterday I found one of the eggs had a black feather stuck to it. Shes the only black one, is it possible she just went in the nest box to sit or did she lay that egg???
All 3 had all sorts of bugs when I brought them home, the hens hardly had any feathers, and one of them had a huge gaping very infected wound on her back and several other sores on her body. I didn't think she was going to make it. All were underweight and not real active, they came with 2 chicks that didn't make it :( But the three are fat and sassy now. The older hens are very cautious but coming around, the sizzle would follow me in the house if I would let her! The wound on the one hen is slowly but surely healing and feathers are growing back.
I only got 2 eggs the first week, then the healthiest hen started laying more frequently and I was soon getting an egg from her almost daily, so I have been thrilled to see 2 eggs every day for the last few days!
Im still not sure if the sizzle is a boy or girl or who is laying the extra egg but I am hoping my girl on the mend is laying because she is feeling better!

I'm glad you chimed in :) I've been trying to keep my mouth shut thinking I was the only one with a differing opinion. I've got 2 awesome kids in their 30's and a wonderful 17 yr old son. All are good decent responsible people who've never been in trouble in school or the law and I'm really proud of the way they turned out......that said....I let them listen to *any music they wanted (as loud as they wanted), watch anything on TV they wanted without restriction, they saw it all (well not porn). My thinking is they're going to be exposed to all that kinds of stuff when they got a older. I want the 1st exposures to be when they're young and under my control so I can comment on it, explain it, make it funny so they realize that's not the norm. Does that make sense? My kids are seriously awesome, good, kind hearted people who are respectful to everyone at all times. Teachers are there to teach our kids specific subjects, not parent them. It's *our job to make sure they're respectful while they're *at school.
I realize I'm unorthodox (so I've ben told) but I had to throw that in.

Good for you, Jackie! If you can snap a quick picture I bet we could weigh in on gender.

Oh and Lori-I can't tell what that boy is unless he's a mix. The 4 boys are all together now it looks like? Now's your chance to keep them together and away from all the girls until you decide for sure who you want to keep. Can you get ahold of one of those chain link dog kennels? That'd be perfect.
