***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Correction on the number of hawks. I actually saw four, then tried really hard to confirm that 4 was the number, then I was able to count 5 closing in on my house!
I quickly shoo'd everyone under the bushes and before I was finished and had a chance to look up, I was down to 2 hawks...
I've noticed that two will work together to distract me while the other comes up the other side of the property. Do hawks really work in "packs" like that when they are faced with adversity and a pretty good payoff if successful?

Do your dogs bark at all? Sounds like you may need to do a covered run or something as you've been spotted and I don't think they're giving up. Are they flying low?

Yes, when they try the coyote trick of distraction, they are pretty low to the ground. I do have a lot of cover, but I think with me being out here all the time, the birds get complacent. My best watchdog...is that duck of yours.
she goes on and on in a certain way. Let's me know she's upset, that's how I discovered the hawk the first day, I believe. My dogs bark at stuff in or approaching the yard. They haven't gotten close enough (I don't thibk) to set the dogs off yet.

also, when there were 5, I could tell they were trying to confuse me as a tactic. As soon as everyone was under cover, they knew they'd been made and left.
The bluest watch dog I've ever had.

it also shows what I believe to be a partial crest on the side of her head.

:love that's the sweetest thing ever. I'm so proud. I'm painting my husband a portrait of her for his birthday. He still talks about Geo. She's a hoot.

I am so so sorry. That makes me so upset. Who are the owners of the game rooster? Do they know their chicken has crossed the line? Literally. I don't think I would do antibiotics but I sure would clean those wounds. Colloidal silver maybe?
Thanks. The rooster belongs to an elderly man, and it is his only chicken (I think that is why the chicken come to my house because it wants to be around other chickens) still no excuse to hurt my chickens.

@mjgigax
Thanks for the compliment about my babies :) That girl is a sweetheart.
A couple of those Splash Ameraucanas I got from Jack are going to be colored just like her.

Question, there is a rooster that comes around my property from across a pasture, it is a game rooster with large spurs, for the most part it just stays out side my fenced in area.  Well this afternoon my laying hens where out free ranging and I have a LF Cochin Rooster that ranges with them,   I was in the house doing some things and looked out the window and the game rooster was in the yard.  I went out side and my cochin rooster was gone, looked and looked and finally found him under the deck.  He has been beaten up pretty bad and one eye is swollen shut (I am so so mad).  Should I give him Tylan or anything to help with his injuries?  All I can say is if i get my hands on that game rooster his is a goner.  My cochin rooster is a large show quality bird which I have just fallen in love with, he is awesome with his girls and I know he tried to protect them.  He is walking around and acting normal for the most part.  Any advise would be helpful.  Thanks

Slather him up with triple antibiotic and he should be fine. I know how it feels when a favorite gets beat up :-( The lone rooster is probably really super lonesome. And Games are bred to be aggressive to males (great with people though). I feel bad for both the roosters.

My dog is doing better. The vet suggested gluing her nipple which I did and now she has a panty hose bandage it is stretchy but still holds everything close so she can heal I think her puppies will be here soon though

i'd spray with vetrycin, and probably not free range while the little guy is around- probably lonely- but that doesn't help much- poor gentle boy

@artsyrobin

Priscilla and her group went to the coop with the whole flock on their own tonight. I was surprised to see them roosting in the big coop when I went out to shut the door.
