How's the fire damage? Is there still a giant gold carp swimming in the water? Is Riverside Cafe still there? Love their food.

The fire went east of town over the hill's it got some home's right on the end of town ..We seen some big carp swimming in the creek an lot's of perch ,,
River side cafe is still ther ....

I built a 2 story log home one half mile north of four mile road and highway 49.it has a green roof and you can see it from highway forty nine. Does anyone know if it burned? Or, the close neighbor's houses? I found a picture on one of the news sites showing the section and it looked burned but I couldn't see any of the houses.
I must have planted a thousand trees, counting all the little twigs from the state. I hope they didn't all get burned down. That property diidn't even have weeds or a blade of grass when I first bought it, it had been so overgrazed and abused. I sure hope all the trees and houses weren't burned. I bought forty acres, built the log home and sold five parcels, which also had homes built on them.

hahahaha, I've thought about it, but I really want those cucs and squash! I should just let them have the other half of it...

My tomatoes aren't bearing right now but the plants look good to descent so I'm still holding out hope for fall. I am harvesting cukes and squash too.

My thermometer says it got 113 degrees in the front yard and thats in the shade,

Now I know why Desert people run around wearing just a loincloth, I'm thinking I wouldn't do that to people and if I did they porbably wouldn't make my bail,

I made it home with the birds I got just fine, I moved the chickens to the cages I had from the boxes they were in and gave them some ice to keep them cooled off they didn't mind at all LOL one of the hens laid down across the bag and hogged most of it from the others,
Stopped in at Blanchard auction for a little while, and visited with a few byc'ers some I just greeted in passing it was soo hot there wasn't time to stop and visit while looking for a fan to get near, I didn't see anything I couldn't live without so came on home I wasn't going to let Deanne's birds set in the heat too long, I wish I had my camera with me when I got home one of the Buff hens was giving me the stink eye out the top of the cage the fact she has no comb really makes her look kinda angry LOL They really are pretty birds and look real healthy, All my other critters faired alright today despite the temp, I have been worried about the rabbits the most, they have no where to go but so far so good.

Elwood - glad the birds made it home alright. The one with no comb is the friendliest one. She and the other buff colored one will sit on your lap, and all five of them will eat from your hand. Has the rooster crowed for you yet? He's quite a character, and likes to show off his voice - a lot! He's pretty friendly, though.

When it cools off outside I'll probably start making the auctions again. It's just too hot to sit in a barn in this heat. Anyone get any good buys at Blanchard this evening?

I went to Blanchard tonight, but since I didn't arrive until 6:30 I missed the vegetables and cages and misc. Probably just as well, since I don't really need additional cages because I have been downsizing.

Talked to Rebecca/Muesky, NNbreeder/Les and Teva, Carla and Gerald, Old Cowboy/Guy, NoCityBoy, Michael Daugherty and Jerry.

I think I may have an auction addiction. The auctioneer knew my number without me giving any hints. I bid on some black maran hens as I was literally walking in the door. I guess I will see if they are laying dark eggs or if they are laying at all. (the auctioneer at Cement knows my bidder number also, but I thought that was just because he is so good.)

Prices were low this evening. I bought two Flemish Giant bunnies for $2.50 each and 9 black maran hens for about half of what they would have brought 2 months ago.

Poco those are actually green or brown watersankes. They are non poisonous.
Lots of people call them Water Moccasins but they aren't. Of course there may be some of those in your part of the state too but they aren't as common as most people think.
Water sankes love to hide under stuff especially near the water.

Seemed like there were quite a few rabbits there and a lot of ducks, I saw at least one gosling I told Carla I saw turkeys back there and figured her and Gerald were there she said she didn't bring and didn't think there were any there I could have been wrong to long in the heat I mighta been seeing things LOL Thank you for the chickens Deanne I'll have more time to spend with them in the morning if I ever get to sleep tonight that is, I had meant to tell Teva when I saw her that I have sooo many Rats now those two female are great breeders and don't fuss too much when I clean out cages even with the babies, The only thing at the sale I'd like to have had was the 3 chainlink panels did anyone notice what they sold for?

I judged a KCBS BBQ contest today. The food was great and I ate more than I should have but it was almost too hot to enjoy it. Hit 110 here but seemed much hotter under a tent on the asphalt.
