***OKIES in the BYC III ***

The Cemani actually lay white eggs, from what I hear. I'm not sure what's up with those black eggs; they look painted.

And of course I realized what it was as soon as I hit Submit. Those are boiled Cayuga duck eggs. One is partially peeled.

X2 Cemani lay white eggs. No idea how a black egg got linked to them- somebody made the assumption that a black chicken would lay a black egg I guess.

I thought I posted this last night, but it don't see it. So, here it goes again...
Meet my Cochin babies! One bantam and 4 large fowl. There's still one egg left in the bator. It appears to be good, but it has hairline cracks from shipping. I waxed it from the get-go and am crossing my fingers. They weren't even due til today so I'm giving it a little more time. It was an EGGSellent hatch from MAILORDER eggs! I started with 5 LF in the mini bator and 9 bantam under a broody. The broody didn't make it through the heat on day 3 (chicken lesson 786), so I grabbed 2 to "see." Of the two, one made it. Four of 5 LF are out and healthy. Five of 7! With possibly one more! Can I please get those odds every time?

I should know if any are frizzled within a week. Woot!

Edited--and, she threw in the banties for free. I only ordered 6 LF!

YEA!!!! So cute! I love the bantam cochins. I didn't know LF could be frizzled. That sounds like an overload of fluffiness.

Totally.

So I posted a few months ago that my daughter was done with her crib and it was in no condition to be used again. So this is where I'm at with it!

Box Frame became a hay feeder for the goats:

Backs and side rails are becoming two wide benches for the front porch.

As yet unfinished bench-

Finished bench-

With a coat of paint and a cushion it will be darling.

The remaining section of railing I am going to try and turn into a bicycle rack for the kids' bikes.

Best part? Total cost for all projects: $10 for the decorative feet at the front of the bench. Everything else was scrap!

Oh my gosh did a rough head count tonight while I dumped the waterers so I can worm everybody tomorrow. Should not have done that.....
I know exactly what u mean. I had to quit when I did mine and just recorded them as I did them. I have to do mine at night on the roost, otherwise, i could never possibly get it done. Even keeping them locked up when it's time for NPIP inspecton is a chore

Have had two predator attacks in the past two weeks. Both times at night leaving a headless carcass in the juvenile pen. We set traps the first time but caught nothing because of rains. Set traps tonight and hopefully should trap the critter...thinking possum or raccoon.

Ash tree, sent you a PM with directions and phone number.
Well,Erinszoo, it looks like I missed yours and typed NanaKats were yours should of been. I don't know how to fix it or even dare to try after typing all this and losing it. I was just going to say we have more people than I realized on this thread that are canners and workaholics.
Nana Kat as you can see yours is below

Lol. I've been avoiding that count myself.

Entered 9 chickens and 2 rabbits in the fair today along with 46 canned items and 26 garden entries. Found out our last mystery bird is a redcap rooster which is good because we have two redcap pullets. Now to build them their own pen so we can breed.
So sorry NanaKat.

I hate that. Would u like my Anatolian LGD. I have to rehome him, even after paying so much, but w/o goats he's bored, but you don't have to worry about chickens even being locked up at night. I don't know how he'd be around cattle. Just get him one goat to sleep w/ them and he'll be happy. Unfortunetly, the LGD 1/4 Anatolian and 3/4's pyrenees is pregnant. I know, especially being such an advocate of spaying and nuetering. I had just gotten her and made an appt. two weeks down the road so she could get used to it here. Too late, she came in heat and the Anatolian wasn't frixed either because hubby said we should leave him in tack in case he didn't do well w/o the goats

Well, at least now I can hopefully raise the dog of my dreams for chickens and other poultry. Seriously , if anyone knows someone that can use him, he is an excellent goat dog. He's been bored and chased some chickens for fun. Not fun for them or me. I'll let him go free to a good home. I don't know if I missed a post, NanaKat, but I see you're not in the hospital, so does this mean no surgery? Also, wanted to know if you still have the girls for me? or are u mad the boys went to freezer camp? Here are a few pics of the dog. He's not eating well and really losing weight.

PS He doesn'[t break property line, even w/ barbed or straight wire. Wanted to show a good one of his face, but my computer is getting slow, which ususally means it wants to crash again.

Totally.

Very, very innovative.

Do u do all the building yourself or does hubby help? Hey, you have goats and no free ranging chickens, this dog would be perfect for you

Hubby doesn't have patience for reading instructions or figuring things out without them.

Except the coops or parts too heavy for me all my building projects are my own.

ROFL- nice try on the dog. We have two Australian shepherds already.
