***OKIES in the BYC III ***

@Kyzmette I wish I lived closer to Tulsa! There seem to be a lot of nice Chicken people that direction.

Chicken people are the BEST people! Those who choose to be good stewards for the least of God's creatures are the kind of people I want in my life. Everybody I've met from this forum is good, kind, generous, and pretty darned brilliant. I wish those darned mid-OK and southern people lived closer, because they're a darned good crew, too.

Which reminds me... isn't that big state poultry show coming up?????

I'm in Tuttle. It's east of Norman. We already have 5 in the garage so what's a few more, right?

We have built a brooder. It just need the legs cut down (slight height mis judgement) and to be moved into the garage. @HeyBigRhondaq How much do you charge? I come to Norman at least once a week.

PM'd you. I just set 7 Olive Egger eggs in my mini incubator...can't wait!

Yes I have met two really great and intelligent women here! The show is Dec. 14 I believe. So excited!

Just got an incubator. Super excited but can't seem to find local fertilized eggs. We have a banty roo that's only about 50% effective on our big girls. Plus we only have 3 laying! I really want to hatch some eggs!

2 questions
1. Do you hatch in the fall? Why, why not
2. Should I pay to have a breed shipped that I plan to use next spring or just do barnyard mix for my first go?
Tia,
Keli
looks like you already have good answers and have a place for growing out chicks as well as a connection for eggs. Happy hatching.

Quote: I'll go check the Shawnee Expo site schedule. I was thinking it was the first Saturday in December....be back in a bit. I was wrong.
The show will be in the Otto Krausee Arena Building at the Shawnee Expo Center December 13. Check in is on the 12th (Friday) for exhibitors and the actual judging will be on Saturday the 13th. The American Silkie Bantam Club will meet on Saturday in the Conference room...not sure of time yet. Also the Oklahoma Pigeon Association will meet on Saturday.

Had an attack yesterday evening in the freezer camp pen. Lost a young rooster. All that was left was the wings and the wishbone. We are thinking a raccoon carried the carcass over the fence....never found any more evidence.
Every birdie will be locked up tighter than a drum at night until we kill the varmit.

Ordered a few more apple trees and blackberry plants from Stark Nursery for a November delivery. Hubby gets to plant more trees for me......

Still need to build a hanging coop for inside the portable Bantam cage before the cold weather hits. Luckily we have a week of unseasonably warm weather predicted.....maybe I can get the boys to do the cut work and I can supervise the construction. A one-armed carpenter is about as useful as a one-wheeled wheelbarrow in a mud pit.

Have eggs hatching on the 22nd. Some will be Bantams and looking forward to the test eggs from the Columbian Wyandotte pen.

Hey Carl...we have fertile eggs from the lovely Brown Red Rosecomb rooster I got from you. I set a few last week when the girls started laying again.

How did our members do at the Newcastle Show?

Sorry about your attack Nanak.

Had a surreal moment at my house today. Today was freezer camp day for a few young roos. I do everything in the house and garage. Gary turned on Pandora (tv radio) for me while I worked. So some of the boys were sent over the bridge to Disany musical music. Pretty sure that is how psycho's are made!
