***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hey :) I thought that may have been y'all but I was shy, which is plain silly I won't be next time. :) I was not sitting far away I had on the brown fleece pullover and boots and jeans. The red headed little boy was mine. We missed out on those " gold plated guinea pigs. Wink! We had a great time but next time I will being chairs. I wanted to bid on those azaleas and some bamboo but I was not sure if we would have Room after my uncle ( the man in the bright blue shirt) not knowing how many critters he might acquire... Lol Once loaded we looked like the Clampets but we all made it back to Kendrick alive and well. I now have four little escapee black bunnies runnin' around in my chicken barn... All the new birds isolated in cages in my well house until I know they are healthy. (Not sure yet with what all is in there what I can recall 4 seabrights, a splash silky, the pair of blue Sumatrans, 5 RIR Roos, 5 or so black and white marans, and I know I am forgetting something... Lol and then 3 more Rabbits in my rabbit leanto area. And three roosters and a hen in makeshift condos in my husband's shop. We did not get to bed until 3 am due to getting all the new critters settled. I worked today and am headed to East Texas tomorrow to get my daughter for the holiday week. I am tired Lol but just had a blast
!!!

This is me and my husband roy. For future auction reference lol

Did the water candling one more time, this time after seeing the video I am 100% sure they are dead. I think they were dead when I put them in the bator after getting so cold. I wanted to open them and see if any were naked (featherless) but after sitting in a warm incubator for 4 days dead, I think I'll pass, not THAT curious!

lol I agree!!

Put the capon down. It was worse this morning. Went and slice in with a scslpal hoping to remove infection but it was a mass the diameter of a ping pong ball and half as thick, firm and fleshy and well attached, and lots of bleeding. I think it was a tumor. Sorry ksane.

Well guys curiousity got the better of me. I decided it couldn't be that much worse then work. So I dug a hole in the mulch pit, and got all ready took them outside, figured that is what soap and bleach are for to wash grimies off right? Well it wasn't to bad at all, they were fully formed and within 12ish hours of hatch from the look of the yolk sack when she abandoned the nest. If we had caught it earlier 9 could have been saved, one was a quitter, the shell had got cracked. We would have had 6 black down, 2 yellow down, and one naked non fm chick.

Gosh dang, Kass, I hate that they didn't make it. I wonder what made her abandon the nest.

These are the seven I picked up from the auction for $21.00. They're supposed to be Cream Legbar and Rhodebar, but they look mixed, possibly the two breeds with something else thrown in. Doesnt matter to me, because they're pretty, and if I get even two pullets out of it, it's all to the good.

Any body up for a game of pullet or dumplings? And Rinda, if any of them actually look Legbarish, let me know?

I'm thinking Dumpling, Pullet, Pullet, Dumpling, Pullet, Pullet. And I have two just like the larger Dumpling.

Some people break broodies by putting them in a wire bottom cage w/o bedding to "cool" their butts, all I can think is it got cold enough to "cool" her butt. She is a proven hard core mom, real type "A" mom.

Sorry we didn't get to visit. Barge in when you see me/us/BYC folks. I can't post of photo of my husband with me at an auction because he doesn't attend. He's allergic.

I agree with your dumpling, pullet, pullet, dumpling, pullet, pullet assessment. Sure are pretty : )

Well it looks like the chickens will be having a nice comfy bed of hay instead of shaving. A big round bale broke open and the boys and I were only able to move part of it. The rest we are going to fork into the chicken coop for bedding.
