***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I personally feel it isn't your responsibility to take your time, energy and gas to track down the chicken owners.  If it were me I would quarantine and add to the flock if I wanted them.  I would only quarantine them in case the owners came to me in a reasonable time to find them, it is their responsibility to keep track of their birds and track them down if they want them and keep them from getting out if they want to keep them.  The quarantine in this case would just be to keep them separate in case the owners came back b/c if I understand correctly they have already been exposed to your birds.

Agreed.

The sumatrans and my lil light Brahma that unfortunatly I am already attached to from the Coweta Auction eat well, drink fine, no blood in poop. On the Brahma had what was almost like a runny nose. But that seems to have stopped. She is isolated though. I dusted all the newbies today, with 5% seven dust. Using vet rx on the Brahma and Sumatrans, and tetracycline in their water. Trying to make them better. Any suggestions are welcome.

The Sumatrans are still isolated too.

Please, pardon me for being blunt, but some of y'all are sounding like a bunch of chicken thieves.

If you want to stay on good terms with your neighbors, DON'T pen their chickens in your coop. Just because one keeps their chickens penned and the other neighbors let theirs free range doesn't mean they don't care for them. They do belong to someone. People can feed as much as you think they'll ever be able to eat. There will still be some chickens that will roam a ~LONG~ way from their home looking for something new, or more food. Especially if they were hatched and raised by a free range momma hen. They will still go to their home to roost in the evening.

Question for all you exsperts, I am wanting to buy some young birds from a seller, however I was told the father was a devil rooster (exstremely aggressive). With that being said will the father's agressive behavior be passed on to his son's. Will they inherit his agressive behavior as well. Thanks

Good ideas. Keep up the tetracycline for the full course and let us know if there is improvement.

It can. But not always. Depends on the source of his aggression which you have no way to know. Just be prepared if you EVER see aggression from any of these birds to sell or eat them immediately.
