***OKIES in the BYC III ***

It amazes me these pigeons can walk with so many feathers on their feet! And it must be a lot of work to keep their feet feathers in show condition.

The English orps were FANTASTIC and ENORMOUS. I just love the big breeds!!!

One of Makela's Langshan pullets that won:

One of Makayla's Langshan cockerels that also won:

Another winner Langshan- can't remember if this was Makayla's as well.

The tufted ducks and geese crack me up!

This guy was IMPRESSIVE- and he was being shown by a junior exhibitor!

The Sebastapols are SO pretty!

April Howington took home several awards with this lovely girl!

We all dread unwelcome visitors to our chicken yard. Here is a Tom Bobcat, at least 25 pounds, maybe 30. My son took it last night after using a predator call not far from the barn, and it came right up.

Quote: Did you find the call ducks? There were several in cages.

We didn't make lunch either bc we also got lost!

got to finally meet@BetsyOK ! Wish I could have found the rest of you! We were the 2 adults with 2 boys and a little girl in a stroller or being carried! Lol
I was the crazy lady in the blue farm vest parading the raffle items around. Scoot's wife was the lady supervising the children that were drawing the winning tickets.

Thanks @NanaKat for the call! Sorry I missed you at the show. Can't wait to see the birds you got!

@lonnyandrinda I am loving these chicks already! The SFHs are just the perfect colors to add to our flock. I'm so grateful! And I really love the sapphire. I like the shape of her a lot. Also, I noticed she has a few little specks of color.

love it! And it was very nice meeting you and your husband!

I tried to make it to the lunch but got lost. SURPRISE! We actually got lost every time we went and left. It was unreal. Am I the only one that thinks Shawnee is confusing??? Either way it was fun. I saw so many great birds. Arlo walked around with a camera taking pics of all the ones he wants. I can't wait to see the pictures

Sure hope you post some of Arlo's chicken pictures. I wasn't able to go around this year to take pictures of winners like last year. I took pictures of the White Wyandotte on my cell phone. Will try to post the pictures. One of the hens laid an egg this morning.

Yeah my hubby and I were the only ones at the restaurant as far as I recognized. :-( but that's OK it was a date since we didn't bring the kids!
Sorry to have missed lunch; it would have been nice to visit. We spent several hours helping with the raffle. I think several folks did not want to drive to the show in the fog. And others chose to eat at the concession at the show. We got to visit with Les and Teva as well as Bo Garrett, and Don Gibson. Bob and Eva were there too. BetsyOK did great on selling her Silkies and had lunch with the Silkie Association. June Suhl had Serama entered in the show, but I didn't get to see her.

Cool pics, hope everyone had a great time. I've been sick all week, my big accomplishment today was taking a shower!
Do you have that cold/respiratory junk going around? Doctor put Roger on Dexamethasone and he took Dayquil and Nyquil in addition to using essential oils on his throat, chest and feet. It took 10 days for him to even feel like going outside. Sure hop you get on the mend soon!

Here Kitty, Kitty! Glad he got a good shot...that critter could take a lot of chicken.

Ok Serama folks....Would I be better off putting fertile Serama eggs under a broody hen instead of trying to incubate them? I've heard stories about how difficult they are to hatch.
Out of 10 fertile eggs, only one hatched and we lost Peepers over night. Two others that went into the hatcher were fully developed, but one did not hatch and one quit about 2 days before hatch.
I have 3 eggs in the hatcher now and 6ix more to go in on the 22nd. All are growing in the shell so I have my fingers crossed for a good hatch.

I have Bantam Delaware and a d'Anver hen that are great brooders but don't have one broody right now.

Yes NanaK some big bad respiratory crap that has flat knocked me on my butt. This is the first day in a week I have spent more time awake then asleep. The day I took the shower I actually got winded from taking a shower and almost passed out before making it the 10 feet or so from my shower to my bed. Beware this stuff is wicked.

Here is the lovely trio of White Wyandotte purchased from Larry Dye...one of our own Oklahoma breeders. He had several birds entered in the show....Cochin, Brahma and Wyandotte. One of his White Wyandotte pullets was a real show stopper and placed.

Babysat for the grandsons last night so daughter and her hubby could go to the business Christmas party. We had a fun night playing games on the IPads and watching DVRs.

It was so good to see the several of you I got to see and visit with! I was so swamped with selling my silkies I didn't even get around to seeing all the birds, nor was I around when the silkies were judged. But, I really, really needed to cut my flock down, and I hope everyone was happy with their birds! I priced them lower than I usually do at Shawnee, because I needed them to sell! It made it so everyone got good prices, and I'm happy when people get my birds that really love them and will take care of them! I brought home only one bird; the black cockerel I had in the show. Vashi was very happy with that. I still have 60 birds, including the 15 chicks (three about 1 1/2 months old).

Ashley, you and Arlo helped me a lot when I got there, and Arlo is such a joy. He's beautiful--handsome boy, beautiful girl! Because I sold almost all my birds, including one of my two show birds, and then gave the remaining four to two families with two and three children, my packing up was much easier. I took it a step at a time, running my carriers out to the curb then bringing the car around to pick them up. They weigh a lot less without birds in them!

Nana, you are the most energetic person I know! You were certainly busy with the drawings, in spite of your recent shoulder surgery. My brother in China has learned that the bone in his shoulder hasn't healed and one of the tendons is torn in the rotator cuff, so he will probably have to have surgery. His hip has healed well and he's gaining strength in that leg!

Goood grief I'm way behind on here!lol I've been super busy lately with trapping and getting things ready to start hatching I'm gonna be reading for quite some time to get up to date with everything!
