***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Its been awhile since I did the math but I think I need to find it around $15 per 50lb bag to make it worth while for us.

Google Ozark Natural Foods. You can bring anything from bags to trashcans and they fill them up and you pay by weight.

Thank you! I'll check them out!

People get all bent out of shape sometimes when the subject gets around to "eating meat you raise" is the only way to go. I'll eat pork sometimes because I, personally, don't like pigs for pets (yes, I tried one once). But sorry, I wouldn't eat my 12 yr old Border Collie nor can I eat my chickens, same goes for dog meat and  chicken meat :) I'd eat horse meat, yet that horrifies most horse owners.

Hey @YardBirdMom
!
Glad to hear the good prognosis! Still have the girls and all are still doing great!

I don't know if I could butcher my layers after they've given so much! Time will tell, but it doesn't bother me if others do.

I'm glad the girls are doing well! Their siblings are as well. Very big girls that talk a lot and lay beautiful eggs

Remember, if you tire of them I'll but them back

compassion isn't really something that can be taught, you are born with it or not- encourage that boy, it is a rare and wonderful quality- i could no more eat my birds than i could a child- just the way i am- it says alot about you as a parent too- don't ever let people get on you for raising your kids to be sensitive and caring.. off my soap box

Thanks. Honestly I know he didn't get it from me. Im no monster, at least I dont think so, but Im no where near as compassionate as that boy. Sometimes its hard for him loving chickens so much tho, they're not the hardiest creatures, and almost everything wants to make a meal out of them. But they crack him up, he's mastered all the chicken calls, and they come running when they see him.

Honestly, we've talked about raising pigs, or eating the boy goats in the future, but nope, I dont think theres a single animal we could introduce that Arlo wouldn't bond to, no matter how far from the house we put it. So, we'll stick with produce and eggs and maybe one day a magic cow that births only females.

You know, I was a vegan when I was pregnant with Arlo…...

I would be interested in the Cuckoo Maran eggs. Please text me though. I can't seem to get online very often anymore. 918-873-9395 and my name is Bev.

If anyone knows Bev, well enough to feel comfortable enough to call her, and has her correct number, please call her Monday. The number she put on here, is a wrong number. The person who answered the text was pleasant enough, but, definitely not Bev. I would like to get the Marans eggs to her, but, it seems like it might be difficult, based on her post.

I like them very much but don't technically "need" them. They're quite welcome here but if you miss them and want them back, I understand that also :)

She typo-ed her number, it's 405-873-0395. I only post it because she had.

Just a kudos to a seller (non-Okie) in case anybody is looking at buying. I ordered half a dozen orp eggs from @Charm1704,and I just got them. Not only was it the best packing job I've ever seen, she sent me seven orp eggs, plus an additional five SFH eggs as a bonus! She wouldn't tell me what they were before I received them, so it would be a surprise. Who does that nowadays??? If you're thinking of getting SFH you might look her up.

Now please cross your fingers for me!!!

Oh, and has anybody looked at Greenfire Farms's site lately? They have lavender Wyandottes... :drool

Would it be asking too much, to ask you to call her, and get an email address that you could PM to me?
I am pretty broke right now, and have internet, but had to make some choices. We rarely use the home phone, so, it got turned off, as a cost saving measure. And, there is ZERO cell service, here in Evening Shade. Unless someone is on an iOS enabled device, with iMessage turned on, I cannot text them.
I was hoping to sell some eggs to keep the phone on, but, none are selling, and I don't want the eggs to go to waste.
