***OKIES in the BYC III ***

The black and blue salvia is beautiful I would highly recommend getting some.

I've been harvesting and putting up asparagus all week. I have 20 family (of 2) servings frozen now hope to get about 20 more. That will give me roughly one serving a week for the rest of the year.

I did get moringa seed, I planted it last year it sprouted well but I never got it to live, at least to grow.

Day 22chicks are still hatching.big problems all of the EE eggs from my new rooster are deformed this is why I changed roo,s.i had same experience last year.
Incorrect rotating would be my first guess. How often do you turn the eggs? Also they are a little late so your temp is a little too low. I would not first guess it is a problem with your rooster. However if it IS genetic then the problem would be with your HENS because they've done it with two roosters now.

Can anyone confirm these are blue marans? They just look so different from each other. Could the one with yellow on the head possibly be a blue splash?

black in the back on this one.

They look like blue Marans. But you'll have to grow them out to be sure. The one with head markings will probably feather out normal. I don't think it's a splash.

Rudy did well on his big day out. The children loved seeing and hearing about him. Even the adults were fascinated, especially the science teacher. Gary took pics but very few were in focus don't know if I will be able to use any of them.

How fun!

I've got more if anyone wants some. It blooms most of the summer.
YES please. Not sure how to get it from you- but let me know if you come to the Coweta auction sometime soon and I will pick it up!

Any number of ways, most common because the egg was soiled and got wet. Eggshell is a semi-permeable membrane, so water will carry bacteria in.

Welcome aboard!

How did it look last year?

Is it in a more sheltered area so maybe a little later in coming up?

Did you leave stalks last year to feed the roots?

Did you put chicken poop on it last summer? ( it loves chicken poop just don't touch the plant w/ it)

I have and hatch Blue Coppers and Splash chicks are light gray/blue and yellow when they hatch. I have never seen a Blue Marans chick with markings like your chicks. Let me know howit ends up being colored

I think your right on temp one reads 101 the digital reads96 so this time I'am going with digital and a fan, automatically turned 40 out of 42 completely developed only 6 developed correctly they were on the corners .

Kass, thanks for your suggestions about the asparagus. It has only been in two full years since it was planted. It is in a slightly sheltered area, but I remember last year it came up about the same as NanaKat, as someone asked about its lateness. It looked good last year; I did leave stalks--didn't cut any yet; I did add composted chicken poop--maybe too much or too deep? Another tiny piece has come up since I first asked. There should be 9 plants, but so far only the four spindly sprouts have come up--from four different plants.

Have you watched that the automatic turner is working? It's easy to just set it and trust it- but if something has broke inside it and it is NOT actually turning that is the source of your problem for sure.

No the turner is working I believe the thermometer that came with the bator is why they didn't hatch by my digital thermometer I hatched at 94-96 degree what do you think?
