Excuse me while I whine a little. This weather should be against the law. I feel so bad for the animals this is torture for them I'm doing everything I can to keep them as comfortable as possible. Frozen water bottles for the rabbits bring two dogs in the house in the afternoon turn Mollie the pound dog loose to go find a cool spot. Make sure all the birds in pens are in the shade with plenty of water. It,s just miserable for man and beast.Wa wa wa come on fall.

i agree 100%, i have moved birds around trying to find the coolest spots for them, run out and check them throughout the day- i have never cared for summer.... actually, they are handling it better than i would!

Don,
You are humble as always, You have a great deal to offer the poultry community be it for back yard production or breeding techniques for success. There are few left like you and lord knows we need more in the community.

Cats!! I know cats can be heck on young fowl, but have any of you ever had cats bother or kill large grown fowl much?? Im not talking cougars, bobcats etc. Just normal size old barn cats.

That's where I got my Silkies from :)
I'm in Guthrie, OK. It's good to know someone around here has them. If I hadn't *just gotten the Silkies, the Turkeys, Marans & hatched the Cochins I'd consider a road trip. But at this point I need to get these guys raised and don't want to overwhelm myself. Although it may be too late for that :-/
