***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I'm still in the country for a few weeks. And I'd definitely expect mulberries to alter the color. But if you want to come get the corrid you're welcome to it. I won't need it for another month (hopefully never but I am getting chicks in a month)
I need to go by the farm store anyway. I will call when I'm close. Thanks!

I use medicated feed with chicks until point of lay as a prohibitive.
I use Corid for any initial signs of cocci.
With no improvement seen in a week, I begin Sulmet and watch for any secondary infections from a weakened immune system...like respiratory...weight loss.
A good addition to their diet is a good plain yogurt and unsweetened applesauce to improve their gut.

One of the little chicks I hatched out is kinda sitting around fluffed up should I give it some it some antibiotics ?

I had three eggs explode in the bator today. They were fine when I candled the other day. All had fully formed chicks. I'm blaming it on the humidity I guess.
Question: is there a way to take an egg turner apart without removing the motor?

Fluffed up and listless you treat the whole brooder for coccidia, using Corid or Sulmet.  Antibiotics will not help.  It is a microorganism not an infection.

Ok was not sure what cocidia symptoms were its peeping a lot is that a symptom it still eating and drinking and walking around some will give corid

Yes I would treat for coccidia. Hunched, lethargic, acting "cold," distressed peeping, not eating and drinking much. About 60% of the time you will see bloody spots in their stools. For brooder chicks cocci is the culprit 90% of the time- but even more so with as WET as the weather has been. You probably accidentally brought the coccidia in on your hands from working outside and introduced it to the brooder. Warm and wet conditions give the coccidia a huge boost.

Rinda,
When treating with these, are the eggs inedible, as they are with antibiotics? I have a brown leghorn, in my general laying flock, that I just noticed, this morning, looking this way. Everyone else seems happy and healthy, but she's a bit listless. Usually the first off the roost, first out the door, and first to fly out of the pen, to go free-ranging, in the mornings. Today, she just seemed like she preferred to wait on everyone else, to go ahead of her. Her wings are hanging a little low, and her tail is not held high, like normal. She's not fluffed up, but certainly not herself. With 70 layers in the coop, and she being the fastest of the flock, catching her, to isolate her, might be a bit of a job. And, telling which poop is hers, unless I see her actually poop, is also difficult, under those circumstances.
On the other hand, could it be loneliness? Her best buddy, another brown leghorn, that we got at the same time, and they grew up together, as best pals, disappeared, presumably to a hawk, this past weekend. The two of them hung out together since hatching, and now, there's just the one?
