***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I have too many chickens and that's counting (as opposed to chicken math). Oh well, I just have to build more pens. Lots of chickens are expensive.
@ Kassaundra,
I noticed in another thread that you are an expert caponizer? I want to do some. Is there a kit available and instructions? Is it too hot now?
On a side note, I found my fathers kit which was never used, but purchased in the early 60's. Yes I remember him buying it. LOL

Actually Coral (Poco Pollo) is the expert.

Can you post a pic of the tools? Coral says the US tools (at least the modern ones) are junk- you have to order from China for the ones that work. She ordered me one last fall but I don't know when she might be making another order.

Poco Pollo is the master caponizer. The Chinese set really is the best out there for tools.

Coyotes are driving me to distraction. Free-rangers were reluctant to leave their pens yesterday, so I set traps before I went to bed. I put a flag on the anchor post, so I could tell that I'd caught something without going all the way to the traps this morning. I'm getting better with practice. This one went down with the first shot and was motionless in under thirty seconds. You can see the exit wound on the chest. Does Lowe's still carry bird netting? Does anybody know who has the best price? I want to put something over the top of the run area to keep hawks and owls out.
556 is a great round for lots of critters. They leave nice chest cavity holes

Might check Craigslist n such for army camo netting and baseball/golf catch netting for cheaper and sometimes better stuff

I was at lowes tonight and bought some bird netting. If you're talking about the thin black netting you put over grapes and such. It was around $25 a roll I think. 48" x quite a few feet. Lowes is so expensive now!

here is an electrolyte recipe if you need it

Electolytes
1 cup water

2 teaspoons sugar

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon baking soda

Use full strength on severely ailing chickens, otherwise mix into their drinking water as needed, a cup per gallon of water.

Replacing the electrolytes lost during times stress could mean the difference between life and death to your chickens.

Here's my solution! Thx for the tip
