***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Does anyone give the vaccine for fowl pox? Since we dug a pond this year I have had several instances of fowl pox. Dry and wet. I am thinking of buying the vaccine just wondering if anyone else gives it

Hoping to see several of you in Norman next Friday/Saturday at the Canadian Valley Poultry Show.  Who's planning to be there?

I'll be there with 4 birds. Had a very nice lady call Sunday about my showgirl entry - I marked it as AOV, she didn't seem to know what I was talking about when I said it was for a showgirl/naked neck silkie - I think you said you were bringing one, I hope I don't run into any problems! Really looking forward to the show and seeing everyone there!

@mjgigax They're so fluffy and cute! Took some pics of my @Jeansrie babies today too. They're about 3 months old. I could have sworn this one was a pullet (it's in with the girls) But look at the streamers in this picture... I think it may have fooled me lol
I just love the light blues! Thanks for sharing the pictures, I really enjoy seeing them grow!!

Lovely birds you both have!!!

We have been in fall calving...up to 10 live babies on the ground but lost two so far. Yesterday one live birth and one the vet had to pull. It was a premature death with three feet presenting. We are waiting on 18 more. Most of these are first time mothers.
Then today an incredible scene...A first time heifer was giving birth and we were on the hill checking on her. She starts bawling loudly...obviously getting tired. The bull approaches and answers her. Then as if he called them, the cows in the herd begin coming from all over the pasture. Several cows and the bull walk right up to her sniffing and licking her. She stops bawling. Then within minutes, she births her calf. It was like she needed a cheering squad. Baby and mom are doing great.

Had to take two new bantam chicks away from a Delaware hen. She kicked them out of the nest and was sitting tight to the remaining eggs. When she finishes hatching, I'll return them.
I have 16 eggs in lockdown for hatch on Oct 1.

Awesome.  Yes I reluctantly kill the fiddlebacks in the house too.
Nope not me. Not reluctant at all. Been bitten several times, only once was bad, but not a fan!

Very interesting. I've never heard of that in cattle.

Jeanne, I listed mine as "naked neck silkie". She's actually one of yours I got as small babes, as are two others I'm showing. Looking forward to seeing you and your chickens!
