just looked at almanac- supposedly the first frost is nov 7, course they also said it would be a mild summer....me thinks they goofed...

Our oldest daughter has a shed out in Pawhuska that she wants to donate to me to use as a goat house. It's 10 X 12, maybe 12 X 12, metal over a wood frame. She said I could come out tomorrow and tear it down, pack it up, and then put it together again. I could do that, but I'm wondering if any of the folks who haul scrap or haul other things might be able to pick the shed up on a trailer and drive it to Haskell.
I could pay for gas, time, and labor. I want to help our daughter to get the shed out of her way, but I've got a million things to do here and I'm not sure I could disassemble a whole shed in one day. Send me a PM if you have the time and the trailer to haul a shed. I can bake some pies to sweeten the deal

Michael..sorry to hear about your friend. Seems like the older we get the more we lose and each loss takes a part of us with them. He lives on in your memories.
First Freeze...no matter what happens during the summer, we will get our freezes on time. Every time I hear that the freeze will be later and I pin my hopes on that information, I lose a crop. So I'll have things ready by Oct 25 to greet the light freezes - sheets, blankets, big pots...trim the sweet potatoe vines and dig them Nov 1. Fall potatoes will already be cured by then too.
DGibson Sorry to hear you aren't going to Indiana. Is Bo picking up you a trio of the WFSpanish Blacks? What is going on in Newcastle the last of August...is that a show or an auction?
NewCastle Looks like you and hubby are turning your home into a NEW Castle...nice job. For the closet, have you thought of using a quilt for the enclosure...a suspended rail with sliding hooks like a hospital privacy curtain... Noticed the pretty quilt on display by the dresser.

TODAY is the big day We see the trach doctor today and he will decide if hubby's trach gets modified or comes completely out...it's been a three year process. I know if they put in a button trach instead that he will be okay with it...but his heart's desire is for it to come out ..so I'm praying for that.

Nana - I think you mean Carla. Our herd consists of 3 does. Carla has the does, bucks, kids, kids, and more kids. DH doesn't want me to be a goat farmer, but he'll be okay with three does and kids each spring, provided I don't keep the kids.

I have a resource here in shawnee that is importing LED household lights and they are much more cost effective than the big chain stores.

If you need a turbine design to put on the Alt. let me know I will share something with you they are fairly simple to assemble. I could also share a resource for the inverter or larger generator if you need or would like.
If'n you were to make a windcharger out of lets say a 115amp Alt. like on some trucks and as an option on Dodge pick-ups then you could charge a bank of either 4 12volt or 4 big six volt batteries. The six volts hooked in series as two 12v will give more amps to use.
