***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Same question on pigs. My current plan is to butcher this evening soak it over night in cold salt water. Flush the water and pig add ice and make a brine. Let it soak all Friday and over night throw it in the pit Sat morn. I can't cook any later than sat. I'm leavening for work after that.

That should be good. Looks like the weathers gonna hold too

The winds the past two days did a number on the Gala apple tree! We picked up three 5 gallon buckets full of downed apples. Washed them all and shared with like minded neighbors who will can or freeze the fruit. The tree is still holding a lot of apples for us to put up over the next several weeks.
Today also canned 8 quarts of tomato soup and three quarts of plum juice.

The chickens all run en masse when I walk outside with a scrap bucket.

Hey, y'all!
New to the forum and in the area. Thought I'd stop by and say hi. I don't have any chickens or anything due to space and stupid "laws" but I do plan on buying some quail next year and maybe some doves/pigeons (squab type) as well!

:welcome CertifiedChaser.
There is a lot of information both quail and pigeons in the "Other Backyard Poultry" section.
I had Coturnix quail and Ringneck pheasant. Ended up putting the quail in the freezer and releasing the pheasant in our back pasture this spring.

Was there a reason for culling the flock?
