***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Thanks for reply.  Have never fed medicated feed to any of my chickens.  Don't understand why she is the only one with a problem, and was a little worried that the rooster might have hurt her somehow.  She never twists her neck upward when it happens, doesn't put her head under her wing, and never walks backwards if that means anything.

I bought Vitamin E with Selenium which I could only find in soft gel form.  It says "with 1600 mg lecithin" .... which I don't know what that is.  Vitamin E (as d-Alpha Tocopherol) 400 IU, Selenium (as Yeast-Free I-Selenomethioine) 100 mg, and Lecithin 1,600 mg.  Other ingredients: Softgel (Gelatin, Glycerin), Soy Oil and Yellow Beeswax.  Figure that is not important as she is not going to swallow capsules.  So, do I puncture one capsule and squirt it's entire contents into water?  How much water?  Do I separate this hen and have her drink it alone?  Or, is it ok if all the hens drink it?  Please advise me.  Thanks.

Puncture the gel cap and squirt it over a little crumble feed or mix with applesauce. It won't hurt others to get some.

Was surprised to find this egg in the duck house today!
Not sure she was laying a green egg for St. Patrick's Day!

Since I have gotten a white egg every day since March 2, I suspect that only one hen was laying instead of each hen every other day like I thought.
Will confirm that if I get a white egg today also.

Exactly what I thought when I found it!
Got a second egg today and it was white....so one lays white
and the other will be laying greenish black.

I recently started fermenting my chickens' pellets. We've cut waaay back on wasted food, we're getting more eggs, and the girls have gotten bigger and fluffier. The only downside I've seen is the amount of poop in the coop has doubled, so looks like I'm going to have to clean it at double the rate. Lol!

@Kassaundra
I thought you might enjoy this picture of Ansel's daughter. She has been brooding eggs that are hatching today. She is a determined mother who viciously protects her eggs.

Yes, the duck egg has that black Cayuga bloom and is really dark!!
Just need to figure out now which hen is laying that color egg.

@NanaKat I saw a cow in an unmistakeable stance of labor from the car while on a road trip the other day. I started wondering how your calving season is going. Last you posted you had 20. Are you expecting any more?
