We had a discussion after the sale at Blanchard last night about hatch rates this time of year. The consensus among those with much more experience than myself was that when the temperature goes over 90 degrees, the hatch rate goes down. I was glad to realize that my low hatch rate recently may not all be due to "operator error"

Thanks for the information about this sale! I heard about it a few weeks ago, for the first time and want to go when it gets a little cooler. Your "word to the wise" is very much appreciated.

BigOkied - I'm so glad you found the sun shades. I remember rolling them together after I took them off the canopy, but I couldn't remember putting them in the truck. Thanks for picking them up. I should be at the flea market next Saturday. If you're not able to go, don't worry about it. We'll figure something out.

"on the road again"Willie Nelson i'm not!lol headed to little Rock.say a prayer for us!
cowboy glad you got a shower! And a coyote too! Better protect those good looking orientals. That's the first timer I have seen young ones, they sure are cute.could get attached to those real quick!
Talking about eggs hatching,I had two hens hatch this week, one hatched all but four eggs and one only hatched four! Both set real good, don't know why there was such a difference.

Hubby is out working on the CH&A outside unit. The fan motor is making a metal on metal noise...He's adding lubricant. The heat is sure drying lots of stuff out. May have to call a service tech.
Going to fill all the water containers with fresh water and give the girls some time outside before the heat.

Looked up Georgetown Texas to see where Doc lives...that area has really been drought struck for a long time....far longer than we have....praying for some old-fashioned toad soakers...they will need several to even come close to their missing rainfall....we need them too.

NanaKat,
if you need a replacement fan motor call me I should have one here. That could save you from the heat and a massive service call bill. Will just need to know what size motor and teh fan blade would need to be transfered. The bearings on thise units are sealed so if you get oil into the bearing that is andication that you have a problem but may last through the day if you accomplish the task.
