***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Robin,
Did you enter a picture of your sweet White Cochin at the computer and on BYC in the BYC calendar contest? I'm so sad that she is gone and I only know her thru pictures.

you know, i haven't entered her- still have a hole in my heart on that one...

Go to any sporting goods store and they should have a clamp for a mini-mag light that will put that dude right under the barrel. We used duct tape in the old days and it worked just fine.

Smashing idea! Will look next time I'm at a store that might carry them.

Glad you're a good shot...why not tape the flashlight to the underside of the barrel so you can still aim?

Good question! The answer is that I just never thought about it. Will see what the BF thinks about it, since its his gun.

Miss Muscovy had nearly a 100% hatch on about a dozen babies. She has one egg left that likely won't hatch. Only one chocolate in the bunch. Some of the others might carry the chocolate color. No blues this time as well.

I have bantie Cochins - Partridge, Buff, Mille Fleur (project color) and Self-blue (project color)

I've never had many cochins, until I got a bantie and now I'm looking to expand. Don't know if its the breed of just the bird but they seem to have alot of personality.

I am not the person to ask = I have 70 Cochins and adore the breed. My Partridge rooster hops on the perch by the door and demand to be picked up. After I was gone on vacation for two weeks he ignored me for a week but yesterday he forgave me and demanded attention again.
I have 3 LF Cochins and they are beautiful and full of personality too. My large Buff hen follows me everywhere.
I have one naked neck and I like him too but he definately is more ornery than my Cochins.

I have noticed that my Mille Fleurs are softer than my Partridges. Now Iam curious and will have to pet and check all the birds for feathers.
It is funny I have Mille and partridge chicks in the growout pen, different ages, 8 to 14 weeks. Even though they were hatched and brooded together, the Pargtidges and Milles are starting to hang in groups by their colors not ages.
Are yours both pullets? (you 'tough guy" chicken breeders ignore this), The little girls are sooooo cute. I will have a roo for you if you want one?
I am glad you like them.

Good morning. Just want to share photos of some bugs I saw on the patio this morning. Two moths. Big ones. Not sure what kind they are but am guessing sphinx moth??? Hopefully someone with more knowledge about them will let me know.

Also, a locust that was buzzing around upside down on the concrete. I turned it over and shot these photos.

These aren't the quality of photos that Kass shows, but it's the best I can do with my cheapo camera.

Kass - your macro photos are re-sparking my interest. I love the photos you share with us!

Moth #1 (the shiny object to the left is a quarter)
