Howdy All!

I am wondering if there is a local source for soy-free organic layer feed? I recently started (9-12) in Norman- and after all the reading, have decided to go this route. But hate paying the shipping, and would like to locally source. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Great Craigslist score today. Answered an ad for free chickens. It said the only catch was you had to take all ten. I figured most were either in molt or rooster worn. What I got was a roo and 9 hens of beautiful black austrolops! None are in molt but in fine feather!  All just as pretty as button! With two sacks of feed,a bag of oyster shell and a bag of grit!  I had intended to get them to use as sale birds for tradeing. I think I will be hanging onto these. They would cost a bundle to buy at the sale!Happy Happy Happy!Loks liek I am going to have to build a bigger coop ,fast!lol

Fantastic score!

Welcome to the Okie forum! Try azurestandard.com for feed they do drop deliveries once a month. Should be a drop not to far from you.

Doodle I don't know how you do it! Somehow amazing critters always find you.
Did I miss anything good at the Newcastle auction?

You might call Tractor Supply they will tell you what they have, I was buying a bulk feed that someone told me was cotton seed based and that chickens couldn't digest it very well and recommended a different bulk feed that was soybean based and more digestible I guess I don't know much more about it than that or why non-soy is better other than the GMO issues.. Good luck

thanks for all the responses. I am in nw okc and found a tractor supply in edmond. Didn't see an atwoods near me. I know there is britton feed but wanted to go with a name i was familiar with. Most of the hatcheries I looked at don't do small orders until around march. I found a guy locally that raises and sells chickens. Cheap way to get started and avoid the shipping costs. Thanks everyone.

We had a visit from a skunk last night. Lost a hen (Silly girl wouldn't let me put her up last night. I gave up chasing her after she lit in a tree.) Found a few feathers and a bit that must have been too bitter to eat. One of the cats is stinky. I think he must have gotten too close during/after the attack.
