What kind of birds do you have?

hi i have 1 polish rooster in 1 australorp rooster and have r my hens 2 australorp in 2 naked neck 1 cochin 1 frizzle 2 rhode island red in 1 sebright in a little one i don't know what it is in a yellow chicken i don't know what it is ....so i have 13 chickens

Well just went out to check birds because they were going crazy. Lost a guinea. They roost in a tree in the backyard because they refuse to go into their pen. I heard them but by the time Kurtis grabed his shotgun and we threw coats on the poor guinea was down and whatever it was took off. We suspect an owl because it was so quiet we were almost on top of it when dh saw a dark shadow take off. He had to put the guinea down it was to far gone. I hate this part of raising birds. Just glad we didn't loose any others. Most the other guineas were huddled at their coop door when we went out. So I managed to get about half of them in at least. We waiting for about 15 mins bit whatever it was didn't come back. Not sure where the dogs are they didn't sound a single warning.

Sorry about your guniea! It seems to be owl season! Thats the only problem with gunieas,they insit on roosting outside and the owls love them! We were comming home just fter dark sunday nght and I saw one beside the road. I motioned to my wife and just as she looke it jumped and flew right into the side of the car. Another car was on my butt so I don't know if it survived or not. \
We are getting a little ice storm here tonight. Proably about 1/4 to 1/2 inch on trees and stuff but the road is still wet. Wife had to go back in to work till midnight so I hope it stays wet.

i also have a story that i would love to share

i was at work it was about 2pm i was driving a forklift and loading wood pellets into a trailer when my phone rang it was my wife and she was frantic and i could not make out what she was saying finaly she calmed doun enufe to tell me what hapened she was going out to cheack on the 12 hole breeder house she walked into the house without looking and walked face to face with a coyote i guse he had goten into the walkway between the pens and could not figer how to get out ( im shure it scared her pritty good " bothe the coyote and my wife ") anyway i called my uncle and he whent over and "took care " of the coyote

hi okie friends man it has been a busy busy day i have been working on turning an old trailer into my hatchery / brooder house the one im using now has srunk for some reson and is to small to work in now lol any way here are som pic of my progress
day 1 i hooked up the eletric and ran all my wirering

day 2 i framed the first set of pen (6 pens to a set)

day 3 is in the pic below


day 4 i finished the top 3 pens on the first set


i hope to have the house ready to move all the box brooders and incubators into by this weekend

Shrinking chicken buldings - that happens around here too. How do chickens do that?

DH saw a big owl grab a mouse in our backyard Friday night. They sure are amazing hunters. Wish they only ate rodents.
