***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hi all. A beautiful weekend!
Sorry to hear about your chickens countryhen. When we first moved here a neighbors dog killed 4 of the 8 hens that were my fathers before he passed.
I went to speak with her(snobbish soccer mom) after the third and told her I didn't want to but would shoot her dog if it came onto the property again. The last one it got, I shot at but didn't kill the dog. She called the sheriff who told her though there are no leash laws in the country, I have the right to protect my property & animals, & that I could hold them liable for loss of profit as they were my egg layers. The dog now stays in its pen.

Erinszoo, I've had some hosta seeds sprout like that. They'll get the first true set of leaves and maybe a few more, but they don't produce enough chlorophyll for the plants to survive, so all have died. However, there are variegated forms of many plants, some with a lot of white, so it should be interesting to see what develops--or not.
Where do you get Hosta seeds? I collect seed from my Canna and Iris from those I cross pollinate, but haven't found pods on the hosta.

On Squash/pumpklin heirlooms there are sometimes sport plants that pop up. If they make it past the first couple of weeks, let it grow and see what you get. Sometimes they are really unique.

In the event anyone is interested or has a need I have a few extra Blue Rosecomb Cockrells, they are nice birds and will fit a breeder pen quite well as well as show this coming fall season.
I may call Michael if there are no takers by the end of the week.
Have a busy day around here moving the pens again to fresh ground, inspecting all the birds closely, giving shots of noromectin for parasites weather they need it or not, Need to dub some OE cockrells and get a few more set out for the upcoming shows last two of the season for us in the next few weeks then to get real busy with the hatching. Most of my Male matings will be wrapped up by end of the month, then to start for the females.
I'm off and running but will be around teh house if anyone is interested.
Sent you a PM

I do not ask or inform the owner, the dog is shot on the spot and bills are provided. needless to say I have very few if any predator problems between my little gaurd dog and my neighbors having a clear understanding dogs are not welcome here, other predators are dealt with traps and my dog.
