***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I say squash seeds are cheap enough that you can experiment. Do you have a cheap place to get seeds. I LOVE Ross Seed! Maybe try some use some clear plastic to warm the soil, or start the squash in pots & plant it in the ground in 2-3 wks. It will give you a jump start. I love squash, but the squash bugs are so bad here it is a battle to get a plant to harvest more than a couple of squash.
I need to work on making some added space to start seeds but really have none now. I have a lot of success w/ beating the squash bugs, the girls (chickens) help me alot. There are several feed stores w/i 10 miles of my house that sell seeds in bulk cheap. Those work for the basics for sure, unless I get a bee in my bonnet to try something fancy.

Had a squirmy lavender chick get out of the brooder today. It was screaming running around my office. Have no idea how it got out, but at least the fall didn't harm it.
All the animals are loving the warm weather, except Bailif, he has retreated to digging large holes under the stairs trying to avoid the scorching temperatures. You would never think that dog has already endured 2 Oklahoma summers.
If you think waiting for eggs to hatch is hard, try waiting for a goat to kid. I feel like I am checking on her non-stop. She doesn't mind as long as a yummy treat accompanies me.
Those buying eggs at the auction remember it is buyer beware. Taron came home with eggs past 2 wks to hatch for others. Some had 0 fertility & others were eggs that should have never been saved for hatching, they were completely misshaped & such (but placed in the carton where you couldn't tell unless you lifted every egg). Frustrates me when sellers are misleading of what they bring to the sale.
Who plans on being at Blanchard this wk? As of now we are going, but suppose to have my sisters kids & DH will be home so plans may change.

Do not think that Blanchard is happening this week. May want to ask around.

When I refilled my waterer in my pen today, one of my hens flew onto my shoulder. I didn't think RIR's were that friendly. Whoever had these before me must have spent a lot of time with them.

My newly aquired buff Brahma chicks are chirping away in my spare bedroom, It's good to hear the sound of chicks again.

I have a hen with a purple comb and she is sneezing, no other symptoms . Anyone have a clue as to what her problem might be.
Sounds like a respiratory problem, most people use Tylan50, you can get it at Atwoods or your feed store might carry it. I don't remember the dosage, maybe someone else will remember.

Welcome to BYC, where are you from and what breeds do you have?
