***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Nothing too exciting in the chicken world today. Thread seems to be getting quiet again.
Chicks are hatching out fast today, can't keep count-- but lots of noise in the hatcher. Taron has saved her chicken & birthday money over the past month. She broke down & ordered herself a tablet. She has the hardest time spending money, but I try to tell her she should have something to use & enjoy with all her hard work. I am glad she earns such a great living for being 13.

Bambi is still not showing any signs of labor, I checked on her several times during the night & more times than I can count today. Why does that goat always give me a hard time?

I have been spending too much time in the BYC classifieds, I am scared some chicks or eggs may accidently get shipped to our house...... Got to stay out of those threads, it is too easy to find stuff we REALLY need.

Oh no! That happened to the hen in my avitar. I so wish she was still around. It will be hard to find another Blue Mottled as nice as her. I didn't get any Blues from all the chicks i hatched from her last year.

I though that the blue came from the roo? If I hatch any blues I might slide one your way, that BLACK ROO doeshis job like he did last!

Hello all.
WOW took awhile to catch up on this thread!! 4200+ post takes some time lol
Just wanted to intro myself. Im Kinda an older model. Getting back into Poultry. I live about 30 min west of Tulsa.
Plan on Raisng Silver Laced Wyandottes. May dabble in Golden Laced too. Mostly just like the overall looks of the breed
and they are multipurpose (Fried Chicken AND omlets lol) I have some Hatchery Stock for layers only. Not planning on breeding these at all.
Will slowly replace them with my own stuff later on. I purchased some hatching eggs from Scott Carter (Carters Legacy Farms) out of Alabama . dunno how many of them
I will end up with they shipped and spent the night in Tulsa @21 degrees. 6 are developing (not counting till they hatch lol). Working on getting other breeder stock for breeding.
Ordered all pullets but cpl of them are cockrels im pretty sure. They will probably end covered in lowerys season salt in a few months!!
The Pullets are going on 5 weeks and growing nicely
Looking forward to interaction with the local chicken peeps

That hen was bantam but I'll take any "extra" LF too. I'll try to get you a replacement for the Splash Ameraucana pullet but they are in high demand these days. EllieMae's Blue chicks sold for $6.00 a piece at Newcastle last week!

Today while I was over visiting Jack, his beautiful Blue Ameraucana rooster jumped out of his pen and into the big pasture. I was somehow able to corner him and catch him. He is a big bird but and so strong I was a little intimidated. He did scratch me but not badly. He squawked like a baby till I started petting his beard. It is as soft as rabbit's fur.
My Wheaten Am. roo is such a Macho guy too. I carried him around my yard yesterday to tame him some and he fell asleep while we were in the front yard but got all bossy again when we got back to the pens.

Had a nice visit today with BYC member SonRise Silkies (Cheryl) from Elmore City. She drove all the way to Meeker to get some Cochin babies to take home. She also traded a lovely Quail d'Anver hen for a Mille Fleur d'Anver Rooster. Now my other little guys will soon have a hen replacing Miss Piggy that recently died. Cheryl is a lovely lady that loves chickens!

We didn't get as much rain as we thought, but the temps are much cooler today.

A big
