***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Morning all! Going to take the day off me thinks. Been working from sun up to sun down most days recently and am tired, just plain old tired. Finally ate supper last night before dark for the first time in a week. Hope we're going to Poops. Haven't quite figured out what to bring yet. Baby rabbits won't be ready, no one wants my white turkeys, ... guess I could bring apple butter and tomato plants. Still have both out the wazoo. Have a great sunny day!

What kind of turkeys are they. Might find some takers, people are very into impulse purchases. If no one buys them @ Poops the Newcastle auction is afterwards (same building). You can auction the turkeys, if you can't stay for the auction they will mail you a check. Tomato plants & apple butter should be a hit for certain!

Yes anytime I have a chick with leg/balance/head tilt problems I give them some baby vitamins like Poly-vi-sol (make sure to get the "without iron" formula) from the drugstore. One drop two or three times per day. Most chicks can be saved between the vitamins and a splint for a few days.

That is what we decided to do. I hate to say it, but I think we may have waited too long. She is a pretty chick too. Black spots with a top knot. I got her from my niece in law. She knew somebody that does Easter pics with chicks. I asked if she knew day old chicks needed to be fed and put under a brooder lamp. Apparently she just bought three chicks and didn't feed, water or keep them warm. Out of the three this is the one that lasted the day :-( It is a shame to waste a life like that. When they get eaten at least they are nourishing someone.

I think we're going to get to go to POOPS after all. Brother from China will be in Texas, a three-day event for us requiring someone to take care of our animals. We get to see him in Texas at least three times a year, he was here (in Texas and HERE) in December, will be back in September, and we're going to try to go see him in China later on. I really need to sell some silkies and especially showgirls, and a one-day trip would be much easier on us! I have some really nice silkies and showgirls in several colors. Was feeling sad about missing my POOPS friends!

Just got through candling the eggs, of the 30 started only 2 had blood rings, there were another 2 I wasn't to sure about but gave them the benefit of a doubt. I was expecting a greater reduction, maybe I shouldn't have set so many.

wow, well if they all hatch you will probably be able to find good homes for the extras or eat some of them.

Was awakened this morning by the five year old grandson saying "Nana, I have something to tell you....Mommie and Daddy aren't in their bedroom!".
To which I respond, "That's right honey, they spent the night in Stillwater and will be home later this morning"
"Oh, I remember now. Can I fix breakfast?"
He makes some mean oatmeal with fresh blueberries in the microwave.
This is the grandson that wants a chicken to keep in his bedroom...

Anyway, came home to five more chicks in the incubator and three more zipping and two new baby calves.
Then off the a soccer match....sure was windy.

Hubby did a nice job filling the waterers and feeders while I was gone last night. Think I'll keep him.
