***OKIES in the BYC III ***

For those of you having trouble with the heat.....for next year plant trumpet vine by the run. It shades quickly and can stand the heat you can also use a mister with it and it loses it's leaves over the winter so the babies will have sun.

We've got thunder and wind, but no rain yet.

One of the barn kittens discovered that he likes layer crumble. I don't think the chickens wanted anyone playing in their food.

After the hens chased him out, the little guy went visiting elsewhere.

Be VERY careful with trumpet vine. It is insanely hard to eradicate!!!! We had it growing in the siding & even in the roof top exhaust in one of our rent houses. It spreads like crazy & you may think it is only going to be on the fence line, but in a matter of a few yrs it will be 25ft in every direction. The vines grow so hard & woody it will tear up your fence. We have battled it on 4 properties & no good words except it looks pretty in bloom.

Cockerel started standing and sitting with his neck drawn in and closing his eyes this morning. He did crow this morning but not as active as everyone else who are zipping around. This morning he looked like he was going through the motions to poop but no poop. I put him in house today in case today's heat would have been too hard on him. He's bright eyed and will become alert when I engage him but then he settles into 'sleepy mode'. When I came home he was acting normal with neck extended so put him back outside but it doesn't look like he pooped in cage either. He walked around and flapped his wings. He did the 'sleepy' thing once but came out of it when I called his name. He ate a little today. I wonder if he's constipated b/c he went through what I thought was pooping motions but no poop this morning. I thought about giving him applesauce. But not sure if I should just wait for another sign. Or if its just the heat making him this way.
