***OKIES in the BYC III ***

thanks on the flea situation- the poor dog is in misery, ordered some stuff for her, did discover a bath in dawn kills fleas instantly- i have never seen this kind of infestation- i wonder if cats carry a different strain of flea?

well, no water at all now- sigh... at least it isn't as hot today for the chickens

Cat fleas and dog fleas are two different species just like, well, cats and dogs. Dog fleas will bite humans and can stay alive without dogs present. Cat fleas supposedly can't. We use a carpet flea powder that you vaccum up about once a month during the summer.

My silkies have officially become spoiled little toots. I think they are eating more tomatoes than me right now! They already polished off my raddichio and parsley and made a pretty substantial dent in the beans. Our little girl Hoshi wiggled herself through the fence even and got into our tomatoes in the straw bale garden. When we found her she was face deep in tomato seeds kind of like a little kid with chocolate ice cream. She is so stinkin cute.

Trumpet vine is not a simple vine to control, even with Roundup, unless you kill it all. Its seeds are apparently spread by the birds or other critters, and it comes up everywhere. It doesn't seem to do much for a few years, but then it seems all of a sudden you have it everywhere. It puts out runners as well and grows very fast.

If you want a less aggressive vine, I'd suggest Virginia Creeper. It is also somewhat aggressive, but nothing like trumpet vine, and its runners have very shallow roots so it is easy to pull up. Not so trumpet vine. Trumpet vine is prettier, though, because its flowers are beautiful, until they become seeds that scatter everywhere. Also, don't plant native honeysuckle or Sweet Autumn Clematis. They're nearly as invasive at trumpet vine. All this is from sad, ongoing experience.

If you're a vigilant gardener, though, you might be able to control both.

In the event anyone is interested in some very nice Old English bantams or some young Black Rosecombs I will be around this weekend. I am thinning the Brown Red Breeders, Columbian Breeders, Birchen Breeders, Silver Blue Breeders, I have a very good number of young Silver Blue and Birchen OE and several young pairs or trios of Black Rosecomb. Most of the breeders I am selling have been shown heavily, and preformed very well. The young birds were bred for show I just have more than I need at this point and could use the space to finish some out real good. I may also let a pair or trio of actual Birchen Rosecomb and BB Red Rosecomb loose.
Feel free to call if interested as I plan to really sort through the birds and get some dirt work done as well. Carl 405-878-6381

Quote: hmmmm.... so without the kittens here, those fleas will die out and all i need to deal with is dog fleas... well, that is some good news- i got up at midnite and slathered the dog with dawn just so she could sleep- kills fleas instantly

How do unmake a tread?
I don't think it is possible, maybe if you ask a moderator they can????

When I stop and think about it I bet the mods can't either b/c when they shut a thread down they only lock it they don't remove it, and I bet if they had that choice they would do that instead.
