***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Anybody in our group raise blue or wheaten americaunas?
I raise Wheaten and my neighbor, Jack, raises Blues.
Also, he raises Wheaten Marans and I have a young pen of Blue Marans.
When we talk about them I get the colors and the two breeds all mixed up - Chicken Dyslexic. I am tempted to try making Blue Olive Eggers.

Awe okay.... Jack was at Poops and I believed he had a big variety of Marans colors. You are not too far from me.
I'll send you a PM.

I've been feeding wet flock raiser crumbles to my chickens (5) and muscovies (6) (<3!!!!) and have been using a very large planter saucer and 2 TV dinner meal trays (they look like such a reusable product that I couldn't throw them out). I spread the 3 feeding stations across the yard. I found there is less billing and scratching when I wet the crumbles and everyone seems to like it this way. Problem is the chickens bully the ducks from the feed and my older ducks will kinda bully the younger ducks from the feed. And they all rotate around the 3 stations.
I'm thinking a long trough style feeder might diffuse feeding station conflict. I could take a PVC pipe and cut the top off....and I want to make it slightly elevated and easily movable with roller skate or skate board trucks/wheels.
Any thoughts?

Use a length of guttering. Add the end caps. Use screws to attach it to a 1 x 6 length of board (pressure treated since it will be on the ground). you can put your skates on OT if you want. If you make a screen for it out of 2 x4 spaced wire you can use it for wet or dry feed.

I've got a vinyl gutter that's been laying around unused. And the PT board could just be pulled like skid. Thanks for the idea!

I need this!!!!! I just started back in the classroom - Elementary this time - Artfor 600 kids PreK -6th.

I have been busy with school so I haven't been on much, lots to catch up. Also we lost our little girl cat this week. She was only 9 and we sure miss her - personality plus - fierce hunting skills and a purr as loud as a chain saw.

Glad to hear you are back in the classroom....hope you have a great year. So sorry to hear about your cat. Losing one you've had so long is like losing a member of the family. Our Mauvis was 18...really old for a cat....a real character to the end.

what are the symptoms of heat stroke in chickens? staypuff was holding her head to one side, disoriented, i brought her in, cool bath, electrolytes, she acted like she couldn't see, walked in circles, finally seemed to settle down with tilt her daughter, any ideas? She is a silky
