***OKIES in the BYC III ***

What I've done before is take the victim and the gentlest of the others and put those 2 together for a week elsewhere, then add another hen to those 3 for another week. Then put the group of 3 together into the main group and they should stick together. A group of 3 seldom gets picked on, they should stick together and the other hens think they have 'back-up' and tend not to push the issue. It probably doesn't *always work, but it's always worked for me.

ShelbyDog left here with 4 pullets to add to her flock and her friend who is afraid of birds held a chicken for the first time in many years.
She is really a motivator!
We had a nice visit and I know the birds are going to a great home.

Good for ShelbyDog!
Emach-I really don't know what that chick is unless possibly a Sex Link/Red Star.
I just picked up 2 beautiful 4 month old Gold Laced Cochin cockerels for free-I know, no more roosters, right? She thought they were Partridge but def. Gold Laced. She's got 2 more that are mostly black if anyone wants them. The parents are huge, real pretty. She can't upload pics from her place, she's out in the country by Blanchard.

Here's her CL ad:

I'll snap a picture when I get them settled.

Hey Tony saw you at the Afton swap. I had a good day how bout you? N.E. okla has been having some perfect days weather wise.

The last Afton swap wasn't as busy as usual for me, but I didn't have as much as usual either. I enjoyed the visiting, talking and swapping stories. And yes, it was a great weekend weather wise. Starting to get chilly now after all the rain today.

We had a nice steady rain yesterday. The chickens weren't happy, as they had to stay indoors, but the trees and grass look strong and refreshed.

My husband was a speaker at the Tulsa Youth Conference yesterday. He was installed as an acolyte a couple weeks ago, so now he wears a collar. Lots of people mistake him for a priest. When one of the extremely loud worship bands was playing, my DH stepped into the foyer and, low and behold, there stood Pope Francis! I'm glad someone close by had a camera : )

He must have been so honored!! Your husband looks like a good man :)
(And so handsome!)
Out to work on getting my new Cochin boys into a roofed pen. No matter how hard I try I can't resist this love for Cochins and Silkies. Those are the 2 breeds I started with. I'm protecting all these new favorites under roofed pens. DH is at Lowe's getting more roof panels and mulch right now.
It feels so good to be getting new birds again, it's been a year now since I got any. Maybe I won't take it so hard when I lose some since this time I know it's inevitable.

Just heard on of my Buff orps crow but the problem is I thought he was a she & have been calling him Sally poor chicken

now I'm trying to come up with good rooster name any ideas??

I LOVE that first crow a baby roo makes! That ooh-oooooh! Just call him Sal. Give it an Italian accent. That's very manly.
