That's why I swore off Guineas a year ago. We had a single male Guinea that lived to be 13, lost him last year. But when I tried to get company for him by buying 5 young Guineas it was a trainwreck. The girl's noise drove me out of my mind. I don't mind the noise the boys make. I finally got them all given away. This group of babies is real super quiet and calm. I don't know if different colors have different temperaments? Or what? So I'm hoping for the best. I may even put up with the noise just to have such good watch-birds around again.Ksane, you'll have to let us know if the lavender guineas keep the peace. My grandmother swore by them to keep the fleas and ticks down, but the noise is just too much for me.
What is BOSS??Sounds great. Your chickens will think you are Julia Childs! lol

Little grandsons were here today and tossed scratch to all the chickens, gathered eggs, checked out the broodies and held baby chicks. The youngest said "So, I kind of got this figured out. The girls lay eggs to make the babies and the roosters lay eggs for people to eat."
I kind of think I got him straightened out... Lol
hi guys- chatty bunch! whew, lots of reading and beautiful birds- i nominate KSANE for the favorolle mix roo!!!
after this guy scaring the ducks out of the duck run into the chicken run last night, cleaning out the duck run of food, and reminding the dogs they don't want to mess with him, the ducks are now in the chicken run at nite, the duck run has been getting a make over- he is a beautiful animal, but just not in my duck run..... i must say, though, after the remake of the run, the bantams will enjoy more room, since they are locked up at night if this guy breaks into the run, it won't be a big issue...but he will have to have wire cutters to do it
have 6 silkie eggs in the little brinsea- there WERE 7, but ksane isn't the only one that gets fumble fingers- sigh....
Ksane, if no one else steps up and wants him he is yours. I'd keep him but it just isn't working out and my main roo is really good at watching out for the girls.
Thanks to everyone for the information.
